Hi, I am getting a SVS 25-31 sub soon, and was wondering if I could locate it behind my TV. The home theater cabinet is caddi-cornered in my room. Would placing it back there destroy the sound?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Rick, if I follow what you mean by "caddi-cornered", putting the sub(did you ask Tom for the 22Hz tuning?)in the corner directly behind the other equipment would probably be the ideal location.

Thanks, I know that no one lives in my house but me, I was just wondering if anyone had tried that, and if it would block the sound. I like the idea of it being hidden, but don't want to affect the performance too much. I plan on getting the 25-31pc. (Hope you can hear me Santa!) No, I haven't talked to Tom about the 22Hz tuning, I thought it was set at 25Hz, but you could plug one port for lower performance?
The sub would be placed behind the entertainment stand, abig oak cabinet. I don't think it will work well, but the wife doesn't want more floor space gone. I think it's time to get rid of the entertainment stand. If I can convince her that the equipment stays too hot I might be able to sell it, then I could rearrange my room and put the sub in a more open corner.

Okay, Rick, don't tell your wife, but the sub would be just fine behind the cabinet. Those very low bass frequencies wouldn't be blocked and as I said, that corner might well be ideal. Tom Vodhanel will have your 25-31 custom tuned to 22Hz at no extra charge if you ask. The effect is to lower the maximum output in the 30-60Hz area slightly, but to flatten and extend the response a little lower. No, there's no provision on the 25-31 to plug a port to lower the tuning.
