Is anyone powering their system with a SC-07 / 05. Specifically this is in regards to the M80s that are 4ohm speakers. Everyone on the other forum in the receiver thread says it is not an issue, but officially Pioneer says don't go below 5ohm.

THX certification on the receiver shall mean that it can do 105W at 3.2ohm so it should be a non-issue.

Just trying to confirm before I committ to the speakers.

Separately ordering a RS2 projector, Da-Lite Cinema Contour screen, Speakercraft AIM WIDE ONE for the rears, have the SC-07 now I just need to decide on the fronts, knock out a few studs in my wall and reinforce around that, crimp some connectors on cables, build a rack and yeah I am like 99% done

I think PeterC had a pretty extensive review on one of those not long ago.

Not that there's anything wrong with the receiver, it just could probably be smaller. I just have a feeling the marketing department wouldn't let their top of the range be the same size or smaller than their lesser models.

Not sure - never owned a "real" receiver before and I will admit the weight and size shocked me :). don't care about it since I have space just surprised

I have had the SC-05 for about 5 months now powering my w-22's, w-150 and QS8's x4 (with an EP500). Peter's review in the other thread was quite accurate IMHO. For my setup I am very happy with it. If I had larger L&R speakers then I would definitely have to go with something that did not have a global crossover.

The global crossover is a problem I'm going to face too. Even worse, the next step below 80 Hz is 50. That's too low for the QS8s, and probably a touch too low for the VP150 also. I figure I'll keep it at 80 Hz, and just set the M80s to Large (or Plus). Movies will still get all the LFE going to the sub, but I'm worried about some of the electronic music I listen to which I'm sure has infrasonic components. Hopefully I can position the sub so that the Plus setting doesn't cancel out more bass than it adds; as it seems to do right now.
