We need a new thread: Who ya gonna see in concert in the next 7 months?

Always call the place you live a house. When you're old, everyone else will call it a home.

Yea, what can I say? I am excited about getting tickets. It is pretty rare for me to get out to see live music of this caliber.

Last night was the National Arts Council Orchestra. An interesting night. The ferry from Newfoundland to Prince Edward Island broke down as they were boarding. The orchestra had to scramble to charter a plane and choose between clothing or instruments for luggage. They chose instruments. Bigger items like cellos were strapped into passenger seats and some of the really big items like timpani and double bass had to be left behind.

The PEI Symphony was able to lend them any missing instruments so they managed to put on a wonderful performance even with borrowed instruments and with many of them onstage enjoying the comfort of their jeans and sneakers.

Keep an eye out for the guest pianist who is traveling with them, 16 year old Jan Lisiecki. He is currently travelling the world and for good reason. His playing was uncanny for any age group. The crowd demanded and received an encore after his solo.

Before starting his encore, he apologized for the 3rd movement and jokingly blamed his suit (jeans and an NAC sweater). I haven't talked to anyone who spotted his error but to redeem himself he played Chopin Etude Op. 25 No. 11 and 12. Which, if you are looking to redeem yourself, is certainly one way to go.

I was checking him for youtube videos when I got home and actually found one where he performs both together as per last night. Except that according to the upload date, he would only be 14.

Jan Lisieke - F. Chopin Etude Op. 25 No. 11 No. 12

Is there time travel involved?

Like so many other successful marques, they were built in Canada. Only the ones imported to the US had that little, in-glove-box cocaine compartment. I think they also came with a box of Brillo, for polishing, and a second lien to cover devaluation.

Ruth Moody band. Great voice and a really good live performer. (And from Winnipeg!)

I missed out on going to see Big Sugar on the weekend. It's been a surreal week. I've seen them before but Gordie Johnson is such a great live guitar player that I was disappointed.
