Hi everyone,
I would like to buy a pair of surround speakers for my HT system and I am wondering whether the Axiom M3ti would be a good choice for my setting. I use my system 70% for music and 30 % for movies. Here are the details of my setup:
Receiver HK AVR 325
Amp Bryston 3BST
Mains Paradigm Reference 60 V.2
Sub Paradigm Servo 15
DVD/CD Player DVD25
Center Don't have one yet.
Room size 12x15x12
Thank you in advance for your advice and recommandations.

I'd go with the QS8s, myself. They're considered by many (including reviewers) to be some of the best surrounds available at any price.

Thank you. However, since I am using my system 70% for music I thought that it might be a better idea to choose the M3Ti rather than the QS8. What is your opinion?
Thank a lot for your help.

For monopole speakers, I'd go with the M2s. From my reading on these boards, I think they would be a better tonal match than the M3s. I'm sure others will weigh in...
However, i'm not familiar with your model of DVD player. Does it support SACD or DVD-A? If not, you may want to consider the quadpoles, as you won't be playing any music expressly designed for 5.1

Z, I agree with Ken's analysis. Unless what you mean by "music" is multi-channel SACD or DVD-A where musicians are specifically placed in the surround channels, then a more indirect effect such as the QSs produce may be more attractive overall.

i say go with the m2'2 over Qs8 and m3's. Having the sound directed at you when listening to music is nice. Thats why i bought 4 m22's instead of 2qs8 and 2 m22s(i listen to 95% music)

Thank you all for your help.
Kcarlile, what do you mean by quadpoles? Could you please suggest some models?
Thanks

The QS series are "quadpolar". They have midrange drivers on the top and bottom baffle wired in phase, and tweeters mounted on the left and right baffles as with dipole speakers. There seems to be some controversy over whether the tweeters are wired in phase or out of phase (and may have changed in the last two years).
In any case, the QS series (QS4 and QS8) are considered to be very good with music, with a nice balance of directionality and ambience. They are fantastic for movies, but admittedly may not be ideal for SACD/DVD-A.

I agree with Ken. Unless you're listening to dedicated 5.1 channel music (DVDA or SACD), the QS8's would be a great choice. If you are sufficiently serious about multichannel music that you want direct-radiating speakers in the rear, you probably also want to match the fronts rather than go with a different manufacturer.
