Hi there! First post on this site.
Thanks Spiffme for taking some questions while I waited to get my password.
I was thinking of getting the M22/vp150/Qs8 combo and forgoing the EP175 sub (due some poor reviews). As i am Canadian and want to forgo shipping and duty buying the Hsu or svs subs are there any other Canadian nationally distributed subs that would come close to the above and match the M22/M60? Thanks in advance. Great info on this site all! (As you can tell from above still not entirely sold on the M22 vs. M60....decisions, decisions!

Where's the Adire Rava located?

Though if you can't swing the Hsu, Axiom's own sub my well be good enough. I don't think the issue has been that the EP175 is sub par (pardon the pun), but that for the same money, you could do better. With shipping and customs issues that may not be the case for you. For you, better may indeed cost more.

Wow Craig quick response. I'm in Toronto if that is what your first line is getting at. Thanks again for your help the other day...it only took 6 days getting a password but Amie was very helpful today sorting it out!
Understand your point about the subs.
Any Canadians out there who bought the Hsu subs? What did the taxes, and handling end up costing? Is the Hsu considered an American product or offshore (offshore will kick in duties).

Nope...the Adire Rava is another well respected subwoofer. Not sure where it's made though.

Here's another thought...

You may want to email/call Hsu. They may have some units North of the border that you could buy directly from a retailer. ???

By the time you get through shipping and brokerage fees, that Hsu will no longer seem like a bargain.

There are dozens of great AV stores in the GTA that will give you a deal on a sub. Replay Electronics used to sell Axiom and may have a few subs remaining at rock bottom prices, or last I checked carried Dahlquist. Bay Bloor carries Def Tech and Energy (though you're not likely to get a great deal because of their top-flight service). Audio-One on Steeles at Hwy 400 sells Paradigm and others...they also have spectacular buys in used and consignment gear.

Just shop around and have fun.

adire is from washington state, if i remember correctly.

I have the rava, but shipping and customs really brought the price up. Its an amazing sub though.

Hi,
Some Hsu's are made in the US (no duty) some are made in China (duty) there was a thread about this a few weeks ago.

If you can glue and operate a screwdriver you may want to consider the DIY approach from http://www.creativesound.ca/ their ezsubs are very easy to build. They are located in BC.

I would also recommend a trip to Replay Electronics.
