I guess the next question would be to ask if all the EP800 amps in use will get the new design as a recall? From the number of issues that have been brought up it seems to me they should.

Here's hoping, though the major reason I'd want my amps replaced is for any performance improvements that have been made, if SRoode's observations are accurate. Higher reliability is definitely a plus, but my EP800s are working right now, so for me to want to open them up and possibly jinx myself, an improvement in performance would go a long way.

And hey, stop trying to pass my post count.

Ian,

Thank you very much for the reply! After hours of listening to the "new" EP800 this weekend, I'm at the point where I want to turn the old one off \:\) There is that much of an improvement! Although I had what I considered adequate bass before, I always felt that there was only a small improvement from my prior EP500s. With the new amp, the EP800 is a totally different animal. The new one scares me.

I have the new EP800 set at only 50% on the gain knob, and I think I will have to turn it down a but more (I'll know for sure after I recalibrate). All music is much deeper and tighter, and it does not sound like the sub is "straining" anymore. I watched "The Dark Knight" on Blu-Ray last night with my wife, and the bass was so intense in some scenes that I actually started to get a feeling of fear or worry (I don't know how else to put it, but did you ever get a feeling when you were listening to something that is so intense you think to yourself that you should not be listening to it?). It actually shook my projector which is mounted to a structural beam on the celing, and the subs are on the concrete pad of the house in the basement!

I REALLY look forward to seeing how the pair of EP800s will perform! Again Ian, thank you very much for the redesign, I LOVE the way the sub performs now!

-Steve

CV,

Anyone with one of the original amps in their EP800 that wants to make the replacement to the new amp is no problem. Changing it over is a bit more involved then just switching the amp but it is not too bad. You need to remove both woofers in the process because the wiring is different but we will send the new amp with the new wires already attached.

I think Axiom's customer support is trying to surpass Axiom's customer support! \:\)
It is always nice, even when not directly involved, to see customers well taken care of.

Steve. Its nice to hear your EP800 is performing the way you want it to now.

It is good to see a resolution for what seemed like a higher than normal number of issues with a new product, and yet another fine example of how a company should handle such a situation.
