I wanted to love it because of Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, but I couldn't quite get into it. Maybe I'll give it another chance sometime.

I've been trying out Being Human, a series about a vampire, a werewolf, and a ghost sharing an apartment. Not quite getting into this one, either.

I just finished watching “Fruits Basket” a 26/24 minute episode comedy, drama, romance, supernatural anime.

The reviews cover it pretty well. If you’re looking for an interesting anime drama with lots of character development, interesting and not very stereotypical characters at that, then you will probably like “Fruits Basket.” Easily a 4.5 out of 5. The only reason I don’t give it a perfect 5 is that there’s a lot more story to tell even though it does have a satisfying ending.

Spartacus Blood and Sand.

Lots of boobs and naked gladiators wrestling.

It started off kind of silly but it turned out to be excellent.

Boob wrestling? wah?

Just watched the first episode of The Walking Dead. I don't usually go for zombie stuff, but this seems like a really well-made show. I'm drawn in.

CV, I thoroughly enjoyed The Walking Dead. Really well done with attention paid to the characters. I am eagerly awaiting the second season.

Heck, I may even pick up the graphic novels.

Let Me In

Good remake of the Swedish film, Let the Right One In, but I wouldn't say there was a compelling enough difference to watch this one if you've already seen the original. In the same vein, if you haven't seen either and would rather watch in English, I see no reason not to go with this one. It's beautifully shot, like the original was. Nice understated music and audio, too. I still can't get into the overall tone of the film. Call me a twisted sicko, but I tend to prefer movies that are a little more uplifting. Ha ha.

Sean, if you end up with the graphic novels of The Walking Dead, let me know how they are.

I watched this a while ago after my sister recommended it. I liked it okay, then liked it a lot more toward the end. I think I need to re-watch it sometime, as I've forgotten a lot of it.

I finished the first season of The Walking Dead. Good stuff. Then I put in my copy of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind on Blu-ray just to see how it looks and sounds. Certainly the best I've seen it, but you can certainly tell it's an older film they could only do so much with. I look forward to watching the whole thing again when I can convince a friend or two to watch with me. It was one of the first anime movies I watched.

I've started Easy A, but so far it's not grabbing me.

Not trying to sound sexist but it would be IMO an excellent choice for introducing a woman to anime, as it seems much less geared to an adolescent male audience like most of them. Better not mention what I’m watching right now. wink

Treme

First off, gorgeous visuals and wonderful sound. Remember when TV shows were always inferior products to movies? I sure am glad that's not the case anymore.

I was too impatient to wait for a better price on this show. After the excellence of The Wire, I was already sold on this one, even though I didn't know why I should be interested in New Orleans culture. The first episode had to do a lot of character introductions, but I look forward to seeing where it all goes.

Peter, I thought of you when Lucia Micarelli's name was in the opening credits. It was your mix that included a track by her, right? She wasn't in the first episode, but apparently she's in the second, so I have that to look forward to.

I've also been exposing my new friend, Jen, to Freaks and Geeks, as well as my cousin. They've both been enjoying it a lot. Sean, you said you hadn't seen anything you'd liked James Franco in until 127 Hours. Have you not seen Freaks and Geeks? I still think it's his best work. Your only option is to agree. Ha ha. Seriously, though, if you haven't seen it, give it a try.

In other James Franco news, I'm actually kind of really wanting to see Your Highness. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be ashamed or not, but I like Danny McBride a lot. Of course, Natalie Portman's presence helps a lot, too.
