You can look at the other boxes that stream Netflix, like Roku or Vudu. OR, you can get the AppleTV and put Boxee on it. Then you can watch Hulu.

Peter I knew you would come through with a better explanation than I ever could. \:\)

Peter, thanks for explaining, now I'm debating about adding another gadget.

I have HBO and really like it. I think they have some very good original programming: Entourage (though it may have jumped the shark by now), True Blood, Big Love, and to a lesser degree Hung. Also, I've become a boxing fan, and they often have good fights. Interestingly, I don't actually watch a ton of the movies, but that's largely because I've gotten into the bad habit of buying DVDs so I end up owning most of the movies.

For Showtime, Weeds is a really good show. I don't have a subscription to Showtime, but I buy that show on DVD. Don't know about their other shows, but I think I've heard that one of the others is quite good.

I'm sure other options are better and cheaper, but I'm kind of lazy with this kind of stuff. I like to be able to turn on the TV and have some options, particularly with a bunch of stuff avaialble via On Demand. Regular TV is just generally so freakin' bad.

No problem. Glad the ramblings were able to help.

If you use iTunes already to mange your music, and are at peace with 'the way of Apple', then you'd probably enjoy an AppleTV.

Good luck!

After watching Showtime no more than 3 or 4 times without being overly thrilled by it, I decided to get back on Netflix and try their watch instantly through my PS3, I was really pleasantly surprised after trying it, the quality and amount of movies is impressive, and when they say watch instantly that's what I got, no lag at all.
The whole family has been enjoying it so much, I purchased a Roku for the kids room so they now can pick their own favorites and watch them in their own room.

Hi Michael, good to see you again. We dropped the premium movie channels a couple of years ago because we were not thrilled with the offerings along with the tiring redundancy and recently went with Netflix, the streaming is very nice ... we watch our share of movies and programs through it. It's cool as beans!

Thanks Rick, don't get around here as much as I used to or would like to, it's tough when you stay away for awhile and try to catch up. But this place is still IMO the best forum around.

I just subscribed to the Starz network so I could try the Spartacus series, OK, I admit it, I was drinking when I did this. I’ve watched a couple episodes and really like it. Lucy Lawless in the buff is a nice treat in addition to show itself. I did not realize just how many channels come with this package. Most are movie channels and eight are HD. I’m probably going to dump HBO. The only thing I watch on that is a couple series anyway. I can’t dump Showtime because I can’t miss Californication. I like the Tudors as well. What season are the Tudors on now?? I bought the first two on BR and haven’t kept up for a while.

My kids get pissed off at me because I only have free OTA TV. I keep telling them, "When I was a kid, we only had 'wood burnin' TV's".
