I'd like to use a pair of in wall M2's as my rear surrounds, installed in my SIDE walls, right in line with my ears.

Problem is I have a side wall window within about nine inches from the rear wall. - I would have to put the M2's next to the side window, mere inches from the back wall.

So, they'd be firing along the back wall, and along the rear picture window before gettign to me.

Not ideal - having the couch against above mentioned back wall isn't either. For that matter, having picture window a foot behind my head isn't either...

But - how unideal do you think this situation is?

I can't put speaker below window, that would be too low; and there'd be a wife or furniture in the way. I could potentially put speaker above window to pull it away from rear wall, but then it'd be about 6 to 8 inches from an upward sloping ceiling.

Since they'd be used as surround speakers in that location, I don't think it would be a problem. You've got to work within the limits of your room.
