Anyone tell me the drawbacks of using 2 M22ti's as a center?
Would it perform better or worse than a single VP150?

My receiver will be able to handle the 4 ohm load presented by the two M22's..

Hello nph,

I've answered your email directly, but I'll post my answer here as well for general interest:

If you were placing the M22ti's on top of your TV monitor, try them in different configurations to determine which sounds better. Choose the arrangement that yields the greatest intelligibility with dialog--layed end-to-end with the tweeters towards the inside, or stacked, one on top of the other.

When you double up a pair of speakers that are reproducing the same signal, there may be some interaction between the two (cancellations and reinforcement at different frequencies) but a little experimentation should help determine which of the above arrangements works best. I'm assuming you wouldn't be using them in their vertical orientation, which would sound best, of course.

Difficult to say which of the VP150 or the two M22ti's would sound better without doing an A/B comparison. They'd certainly sound different, because of the different dispersion patterns of the M22ti's doubled up and a single VP150.
