That's good news, Brian! Congrats on finally getting your new speakers, too! I like the finish you got. I've still got a sample sitting around here somewhere. . .

Not sure what I was hearing now because with the Pioneer, when I set the L/R to large it shuts off the SW. I had to set the L/R back to small to get the SW to work again. Set the AVR crossover to 80 with the SW crossover to 150.

The Pioneer should also have a Plus mode, which runs the mains and the sub. You can also raise the AVR's crossover point to 120 Hz or so. The SW low-pass filter should always be turned at high as it can go.

Ok, I found where that is in the manual at work. I'll try setting it to plus when I get home. The EP175 only has 2 low-pass filters with 150 as the highest which I leave it on. The only other variable to play with is the AVR crossover point, and there are several to choose from, from 50 Hz to 200 Hz.

Does the AVR cross over point only apply when the L/R/(C?) are set to small?

Also, should I turn the SW off when I'm not using it? Or should I try to connect the trigger to the AVR, or something else, like "read the manual"? lol.

Yes, the AVR cross-over only applies when the speakers are told to use the cross-over, i.e. when set to Small or Plus. Film with N.1 soundtracks have a dedicated information for the sub which will never be sent to the mains (the rule for soundtrack mixing is that the LFE channel should not contain any needed audio, it should be for effects only). But stereo music doesn't have that, and anything for the sub has to be pulled out of the other channels.

Axiom's class D amps draw very little power when not producing sound. Leaving them on shouldn't be a problem. But if you want you can use the 12-volt trigger to put them in an even lower power state (do they truly draw 0 Watts when powered off by the trigger?)

Check out the Plus mode, but I don't really recommend it based on my own experiences. Your best bet to stick with Small, and try various cross-over points.

It's also very possible that your missing bass, is actually being sucked out by the room. In that case moving the sub around may help.

Anybody know of a CD or DVD that generates a continuous sine wave from 20 Hz through 20,000 Hz at a constant SPL that can be used with a SPL meter?

I've checked the web and haven't come up with anything that looks useful.

Edit: I just remembered that I have Digital Video Essentials blu-ray at home. It might have what I'm looking for on it.

Edit 2: Here's one I don't have that has sine wave sweeps on it called Avia II A/V Calibration DVD

Edit 3: Decided to get the spl meter today instead.
