Ron, hopefully "put to the test" doesn't just mean "look how loud", because the ability to play more delicate passages effectively is also required of a good system. I'll suggest some of my favorite discs that cover the entire spectrum of musical requirements. First, Herrmann's great score for The Day the Earth Stood Still ; combining thunder and delicacy superbly, The Planets ; Stravinsky's music which caused a riot at the first performance, The Rite of Spring ; the savage/beautiful Roman Trilogy .

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

The Dolby or THX intro to Indiana Jones Cave of the Crystal Skull's combination of sonic violence, tonality and hilarity will amaze, delight and overwhelm.

Enjoy the Music. Trust your ears. Laugh at Folks Who Claim to Know it All.
