No, despite the distance, I did mean the corner at the lower left of the diagram.

I will certainly try it since it is an interesting possibility. I might not be able to use the EQ1 at that distance for the D-10 since they were getting close to distorting when trying to play at the level the AS-EQ1 wanted when calibrating them at the far end of the room. The EP500 shouldn’t have any problem over there though, but I’ll give both a try.

I just looked and unfortunately it looks like the only two standard finishes are black and boston cherry so I would have to go custom to match the kitchen.

Dean, thanks for the exhaustive results from what I'd guess was literally the "sweat spot". What are the other three of the best spots?

Sorry I missed the other part of your question. The new “most” best spot was the green dot.

The other spots I’d already found by ear in descending order are one in the bottom right corner by the front door, the one just behind the screen, and the one directly opposite that one on the back wall.

The other places I just tried based on general theory (midway point of the wall). I tried both the pairings on opposite side walls and also the pairing of the north wall by the seating with the south wall closer to the red “bad” area. The other pairings I tried were the one near the center of the back wall and the one just behind the screen and the one on the back wall and the one farthest behind the screen in the very front corner.

The area running under the screen was generally pretty good until it got near the south end of the screen. However, it was best at the north end up by the doorway to the master bedroom (well really it’s going to be a workout/sun room and possibly a 2ch audio room.

Yeah, the Mansfield Beech and Light Maple are still listed as stock finishes in the Customize Yours screen, so they don't cost as much as the custom options, but they now take 10 days to ship. Can someone clarify whether their pricing will go up, or will they always have this lead time but remain at the standard finish price? The mention in the AudioFile newsletter wasn't clear to me.

Thanks for pointing that out Charles. I couldn’t get the customize link to open so I couldn’t check that out.

Charles, since the Newsletter said that they're "still available" for the same price, without giving a time limit, I took it to mean that only the delivery time would change.

Remember: We only call it that with oddly-shaped rooms!

Only took a dozen times re-reading that to figure out I miss spelled süß. Come on we say “eat” so shouldn’t “sw-eat” sound the same. BTW that is one of my favorite miss spellings along with “thier” (“I” before “e” except after “c” is a stinking lie), “ov” is a fan favorite, then there’s the whole “ka-niggit,” “ka-now” and “ga-nat” crap. Don’t even get me started what the Normans did to the language - “rendezvous” WTFO? Well at least I guess we don’t have to try to pronounce:

Internetverbindungsgeschwindigkeitsverbesserungsantrag

Though one thing about German if I can say it I can spell it. ;\)

Interesting results, Dean! Wow, looking at the drawing of your room makes it kinda clear how asymmetrical the listening area is. I always forget that because your curtains do a good job of framing the room and making it look rectangular. I don't suppose they do a good job of wrangling the low frequencies of the subs, though.
