I recently cracked open the first bottle of my homemade, oatmeal stout. The chocolate hints in it somehow made me think it made a good Christmas beer.

Yes a good stout has that luscious filling flavor that hits home this time of year. Maybe with some roasted chestnuts!

Good suggestions on the GI Bourbon stouts. I will have to check those out.

Update: I understand that GI's holiday beer is now called "Sixth Day", no longer Christmas Goose. Have a sixer chilling at the moment.

I also picked up Anchor Steam Christmas 2013. It's a nice, piney flavor with some nice malt backbone. Very porter-ish, but not too heavy.

We had THIS scrumptious stout the other night... dessert in a bottle!

Yes! We had that one on draught with Jack at Fat Head's in Cleveland. It was super.

I picked up a bottle of The Big Lebrewski from Seattle's Naked City Brewing. Looking forward to it.

Quote:
Billed as a “White Russian Imperial Stout”, this beer starts out as an Imperial Cream Stout made with healthy amounts of dark malts and a dose of Lactose. After primary fermentation, Big Lebrewski is racked onto Medium Toast French Oak and aged for several weeks. The resulting beer is rich and complex with notes of chocolate and coffee. It’s the beer for its time and place.
