I actually own a EP350 and i would like to upgrade. I have the chance to sell it for a good price so why not. I actually looking for the ep400 or the ep500. My room is 11x8x27 but listening seat is at 12feets. I know it's a huge room and at first look the ep500 would be a better product. But since i live in a twin then i can't push the sub to his limit. So maybe the ep400 would be more musical sub but who can give me some good bass for movies. Take note that i would eventually add a second subwoofer in a near futur. So 2xep400 or 2xep500 ?
Thanks for advice

The EP400 is unsuited to a room that large. Go with the EP500. If it's too loud, turn it down. If you ever move, you'll have a much more capable sub when you can take it to the limit.

Yeah that's what i had in mind. Anyway i wonder moving from the ep350 to ep500 will be significant.

It looks like you would get a little more volume (500 vs 300 watt), a little lower range, but you would loose the upper bass range of 100-150 hz, which isn't a problem if you use 80-100 as your crossover point. It looks like all of the sub-woofers above the EP350 has a lower top end. This is probably just a result of acquiring a better bottom end.

Honnestly the only concern i have from the EP350 is the port shuffling noise in the lower departement. I tought first it was comming from the port but when listing closer, it come from the cone. I wonder if anyone here have the same problem with his ep350.

At what volume? I've never heard that. Can you reproduce it if you push on the cone with it turned off?

When i play it loud in the lower octave. There is a kind of vent noise comming from the left of the rubber. There is nothing loose, everything seem well built. I have read some reviews that were talking about this port or cone shuffling

No noise problems with my EP350. I did notice a lot of unwanted noise with the EP175 though.

Yeah, that sounds more like a problem with your particular sub than with EP350s in general.

I have read some reviews that were talking about this port or cone shuffling It does sound like port chuffing. Is the noise coming from the driver or the port? Is any air escaping around the driver during these scenes?

Hi Phillippe,
Inspect closely if the surround verifying that there is no small slot which air would escape from. You can push on the cone with your fingers to strech the suuround. You don't have to wait until Monday to phone (1.866.244.8796) I'm available today (Saturday) and tomorrow. Brent will be back on duty Monday.

So finally the air is comming from the side rubber. I talked with Jc this morning and Axiom sending me a new one to replace it. What a great customer service. Thank Jc ! I can't wait now to hear the real sound from the EP350.

Excellent Philippe. It sucks that you got a defective sub, but it does happen. Its nice to see that Axiom is being diligent as usual.

When i was looking inside the subwoofer of course i saw the cable linked from the amp to driver. A black and red one and also a yellow who were connected from the red binding post from the driver (woofer) to the other. I will have to change my driver soonly and i have Axiom speaker wires left. Do you guys think it could be in any way a kind of upgrate to swtich from the stock wire to Axiom speaker wire ?

We always talk about how there is no difference between cheaper speaker wire, and that which costs hundreds of dollars. Copper is copper, so I assume that would apply to internal wiring as well.

What matters with speaker cables is resistance. You want to minimize this. As long as you are using the correct awg of wire and staying with the recommended length of that awg, then its safe to say there will be no difference.
For example if you run 50 feet length of 18 awg wire to your surround speakers then you are running the risk of the resistance getting to high. This could cause output problems as well as changes in the frequency response.
In the case of the internal wiring in the subwoofer, it is going to be a very short length. The supplied 16 or 18awg (whatever they use) will be sufficient.

Yep, which is why I refer to Mr Russel's website often.
