Someone probably posted this a million years ago, but it was new to me. Better than I'll ever be at anything.

Despicable Me

I couldn't get into it. At least the rocket launch had some nice deep rumble.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

My mom wanted to watch it again, and she had my dad watch it this time, too. Still fun.

Received the special edition Avatar box set for Christmas and watched it last night; definitely a reference movie for HT.

Finally got around to Tim B.'s Alice. He rarely disappoints, however...

Not Depp at his best. Kind of "Jack Sparrow does Mad Hatter."

Alice is forgettable. It's Bonham Carter's movie and she's her usual awesome.

The 2nd half of the film becomes absurd (not absurdist, that'd be OK) and has not much to do with any previous "Alice(s)."

Though there's a lot to simply gawk at, we've all seen better. And nothing about the soundtrack (music or effects) will grab your attention.

Glad I got it used @ 1/2 price.

On deck: Inception

The pemmican I make is dehydrated Buffalo meat mixed with rendered Buffalo fat. I was eating one at the Axiom party at Ian's place and you thought I was eating cake/fudge or something. I've been making these latest batches since the end of November. So far I've made 28 lbs of the stuff with another 7 lbs being finished of today. Then I rest for a week and start again in the new year.
I'm not much of a holiday celebrator so today is my house cleaning day.

Mel, I would say that prepping 35 lb. of Buffalo could very well be construed as a Holiday celebration, of sorts.

I'll still think of you eating cake or fudge.

Bob, the real scary part is, when I'm finished eating all the drying meat in my fridges, which is currently 50 lbs worth, I will switch over to eating pemmican exclusively. That will probably be the end of January.
Cake or fudge....Bah Humbug! smile

I just watched “Aquarion”

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/aquarion/dvd-season-1/by-theron-martin

As usual this is a 16x9 format with 5.1 surround sound. It does an excellent job on both counts especially with the music. I’ve been mostly watching only 16x9 and 5.1 material here at home since I bought a portable DVD player which lends itself more appropriately to the 4x3 2.0 format since that doesn’t take as much advantage of my HT.

I generally agree with everything in that review except I give it a little higher score say a B- or 3.5 stars because I liked the characters and how they interacted.

Mel, I think being alone in that room, surrounded by shiny, shiny rosewood as far as the eye can see, has had an affect which is severe and profound.

Really, nothing other than pemmi? Were you raised on a wagon train?

I, mean, I've been on the TCH, so I know you guys are really attached to the past and all, but...

Really? No fruits, nuts, veggies?

Are you saying my speakers are having a hypnotic effect on me and I'm losing whatever I have for a mind?
Don't think I was raised on a wagon train.
TCH? I don't know what that is.
I've been eating only meat and fat for the last year and a half. Going to straight pemmican won't be a problem.

Wow! That's a committment. I was joking about the wagon train. Ya know, not many people these days on such a "hominid heritage" sort of diet. You don't even have to ask a realtor, "How close is the nearest supermarket?" That IS cool!
