If you are a WWII history buff, you really should take the 1/2 hour ,or so, it will take to read the Flight log below. I found it to time well spent. After more than 30 years of study, it gave me the closest idea of what it must've been like to be flying bombing missions over Europe in 1943. It starts out a little slow, but stick with it. You'll be glad you did.

The link is to a .pdf, not a web page. You can save it to your computer and read it when you have the time.

B-17 Flight Log (5 Sept 1943 - 21 Feb 1944)

To see the photos correctly, right click on it and click "rotate Clockwise." You'll need to repeat that 3 more times to get the written pages back to the correct orientation.

Jack that is a very cool link, I've had it bookmarked for quite some time now and if I'm not mistaking I believe maybe somebody posted it here a few years back?

Also if you do a google search of some of the names in that log you'll find some very interesting side stories ... seems like one of them is of a P47 Thunderbolt pilot flying out of Italy (IIRC) and being shot down in Germany and then visiting the same small town and his civilian captors years after the war was over.

Cool stuff, unbelievably brave men and women of that time period.

LOL! If it was posted before, it was probably me who posted it. Sigh! the memory is gone.
