I saw Juliana around '93 for the tour supporting that album. One of my younger brothers was a huge fan. It was at Interpol in Pittsburg. Juliana was sitting outside the stage entrance so we walked up and talked to her for a while.

I had seen Hole there a few months before, and commented on how cool it was that she'd talk to fans, where Courtney Love was abusive to everyone even during the show. She made some cute comment about not being like Courtney. Then we asked if she had any recommendations on where to eat, and followed them to grab a bite before the show.

I'll send you volume three of your chart. The answer is within.

As one of my rewards for pledging to help fund Stone Darling's first EP, I get three guest list passes to one of their shows. I have no idea when they'll be doing an extensive tour, so of course most of their shows have been near their hometown of Los Angeles. Right now they only have three shows scheduled, two being at SXSW next month and another LA show in April. My friend who lives near LA said she wouldn't be able to go, so I'm looking at who else might want to attend one of their shows. As in, you'd get all three passes, since I probably won't travel that far to see them. Is anyone interested? I can't quite commit to giving them away yet since I don't know yet if they'll let me give the passes to someone else. But if you'll be near one of the venues and think they'd be okay to see, I'll keep you in mind if they say it's cool.

I was very pleasantly surprised last Monday when I went to see Melissa Etheridge. I always liked her music but she was mostly just a consistent voice on the radio for me over the years. I actually might not have gone to see her show except a buddy bought me a ticket. I was pretty glad I did after experiencing her in person.

Her obvious stage experience really shined and she had the audience really involved, which can be a trick at this venue as it's a more formal, concert hall type venue. Seats only, so it's a lot tougher to get the crowd up and active.

Her voice was wayyyy more powerful in person than I ever gave her credit for and she plays a mean guitar.

Just thought I'd mention it as Melissa made a fan out of me. Too bad it took 30 years before it happened.

I have a few of her CDs and always liked her, but liked her better after I heard her sang this Janis Joplin tribute with Joss Stone.

Mrs. Tuttle and I saw her perform many years ago at Seattle's Paramount Theater. We kind of felt like the only heteros in the building, but it was an absolutely awesome show.

Tom, until you said that, I forgot that I saw her/photographed her. It wasn't until I read "We kind of felt like the only heteros in the building" that I remembered because I remember feeling the same way!

I guess this was why it made sense to stop shooting concerts....(when I can't even remember who I shot/attended!)
