Loving LA Noire. Great graphics and storyline. I'm most impressed by the facial features. This is the first time the people's faces look real and you can actually recognize the actual actors voicing the characters.

I also love Heavy Rain. If you have kids, it's a tough story to swallow at times, gut wrenching I'd even say. But love the idea and execution, though some of the timed button mashing kills me (horrible at FPS and fighting games) so I got stuck.

I like the mystery/puzzle genre after playing all the Phoenix Wright and Professor Layton games on my DS. Haunted and the Broken Mirror series are great on the iPad/iPhone as well.

Noire is getting better and better. Really good plot going on. The soundtrack and score is sooooooooo good. The background music to this game complements the atmosphere and tension build up so well. The devs really payed attention to small details in the sound effects. Most notable is the detectives footsteps on different surfaces.

The only thing that bugs me is when I pick up a bloody knife or any evidence with my bare hands for that matter. Even being the 1940's, didn't they wear gloves back then?

Heavy Rain is really good. I rented the game and beat it within 5 days or so though...

I'm interested in LA Noire but don't have the time to get into it right now. I may borrow it from a buddy in a couple of months.

I finished L.A. Noire. Excellent game. I would put it up there in the top ten as one of my favorites this generation. The ending was a bit of a let-down/disappointment. Now I am working on getting 100% completion. You really have to explore the map to find all 50 golden movie reels. They are hidden very well. It is sinister and puts the pigeon finding in GTA to shame. You will have to use a map location or description to find them or you will be spending weeks if not months trying to get them all. It is that frustrating and time consuming. I also want to go through the cases again because I want to get 5 stars on each and pick up more details on the characters and story.

I’ve played a few partial and 2 complete games of Dragon Age Origins but not any of the follow on expansions yet. At first I wasn’t too keen on it. Then as I started getting the hang of gameplay it became very interesting. However, once I got the hang of gameplay it’s become somewhat tedious.
Likes: (as compared to other games I’ve played)

Tactics – Nice to be able to pre-plan your characters moves.
Party Camp – much easier than running all over your ship in ME1-2 to talk with party members.
Option to have important items identified – I hate this part of Oblivion when trying to find something especially when it’s under water.
Money is actually worth something - unless I missed something there is a fairly limited supply of cash so you can’t just go around buying everything.

Dislikes: (as compared to other games I’ve played)

Graphics – It looks downright ugly compared to Oblivion, ME1-2 or Bioshock 1-2 on the 134” diagonal.
Audio – not as immersive as ME1-2 or Oblivion.
Dialogue selections – little hint on what they do. Most are pointless but hard to know that.
No main character voice – really ruins the immersion when only half the conversation is voiced.
No first person option – again ruins immersion when always viewing from 3 person.
Main Quests too long – the main quests just take too long to progress through. They have too many sidetracks which could have been better placed in optional side-quests.
Cut scenes – again not on par with ME1-2, mostly just boring walking up to bad-guy before obligatory melee battle that prevents you from pre-casting AOE spells.
Looting the battlefield – really . . . running from body to body to pick up the paltry crap most of them have. Not to mention how long it takes for some loot to spawn.
Running back and forth to talk with people to complete a quest – Ok Oblivion suffers from the same, however, few of those quests are necessary for the main storyline.
Meaningless side-quests – it would be nice if the side quests rewarded you with something special like gaining specializations as an incentive to do them.
Pickpocketing useless – you never get caught.

Ok, I have more but you get the point.

Now don’t get me wrong I have enjoyed playing this for the most part but would have expected more “re-play” value. At first I thought that there was because I could play many different characters. However, due to the length of the main quest-line the game becomes repetitive as you quickly figure out how to play a particular role. Being able to switch between characters (I guess you could force yourself not to) compresses the learning curve.

Overall I’d give Origins 3 out of 5 mainly because I imagine it’s one of the best at what it does. However, it just gets so much wrong compared to other games.

Based on the reviews I’ve read at Amazon I think I’ll be skipping DA 2 as it sounds like the improvements (graphics, main character voice) aren’t enough to lure me in.

Dean, I agree with you on DA Origins. I liked it more than I disliked it, though. As far as the graphics go, I read that the Xbox version was noticeably not on par with the PS3 or computer version.

Interesting to hear about the Xbox version. Overall I did like the game for what it is, however I’ve set up my system to maximize the suspension of disbelief which this game does not. Right now I’ve got Fallout 3 in and just listening to the wind swirling around me is so cool even though I don’t find the visuals of it nearly as good as Oblivion.

I really liked the story of DA, and some of the decisions you are forced to make. Not all of them easy.

Is a third installment due for Dragon Age?
