World music. That phrase just means that they are a part of the world, but we aren't. See? Problem solved.

i've wondered before what north american music could be called world music; i haven't researched it, but i haven't been able to say once: "hey! this IS world music"

thinking about it a bit more, i now think that Lhasa was making world music; that means there surely is more; but what?

I'll cop to the "bombastic," but rants are impassioned (for real). Mine are faked passion, meant to elicit equally fake "passionate" responses.

If they can be called rants at all, then they are jocular rants--a pinch of what I may (or may not) really think, a dash of the absurd, heavy on hyberbole, and, ultimately, as shockingly dismissive, uncaring, detached and rude as I can muster.

I don't care what anyone thinks, I believe I'm very, very adedpt at dismissive, uncaring, detached and rude. And if you think it comes without dedication, copious study, and hard work, you'd be mistaken. Then again, I'm probably exaggerating.

It's so arrogant and dismissive. There's "our" music, and then there's the rest of the world, in one amporphous lump.

We really mean "3rd world music"

The term "3rd world" really bothers me. If anything, what's commonly referred to as the 3rd world, should be called the 1st. It is, after all, where humans descended from.

1st should bother you, too, since it's like saying it's only v1.0.

Really!?! You!?! You're gonna try to trump global economics and politics with evolution?!?

When the term (3rd world) came into use, there were no countries designated 1st world, as such, though it was understood that it meant "economically established." There was only one country considered by some to be 2nd world---The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

On the out-of-Africa theory of human evolution and worldwide habitat; no Africa = no R & R, no jazz and no dashikis, among tons of other things. Boliva is 3rd world. Maybe your ancestors fell of a Vicuna, but I'm pretty sure mine didn't.

I've seen Vicunas and met your lovely parents. Shame on you.

So, mashing up CV's logic with BobKay's historical anecdotes, we can only conclude that Garbage's "Version 2.0" is from Russia with buzz.
