I just got an email today from Dish Network that my current "Platinum" package is now being switched over to Blockbuster Movie Pass at no additional charge. Now I get the same (if not a couple more) HD channels, plus unlimited TV and PC streaming, plus the disc via mail service.

Kinda cool.

I dropped NetFlix years ago when they dropped HD-DVD and I didn't have a Blu-Ray player yet (because the Blu-Ray players were pretty crappy in comparison at the time) and I just never picked it back up again.

This could be nice...

EDIT: Ooooo... Free game rentals too...

Nick, I'm very interested in your experience. I lazily evaluating options. Currently still slaving to Netflix (1 disk plus streaming) and also DirecTV (no premium channels). I've thought about switching to Dish, and the Blockbuster thing is a pretty big factor in my decision.

What is your evaluation of the Blockbuster disk availability and selection?

We are trying to decide on Dish versus Direct TV right now.

Do any of you guys have any thoughts or experience with U-Verse? We've been looking towards that route but there seems to be a lot of conflicting reports, some say the HD is too compressed while others say it's fine.

I will have to look at it more later. Need to get these backer boxes up in the theater room. What I did see was a lot of movies and games available both streaming and disc method, plus a bunch right on the Dish Box. They claim that they have movies available before NetFlix and RedBox for the mailing service, not sure about streaming. I will also try to check out their TV selection. I will report back later.
