Any ideas what I should list as the asking price on Craigslist for a 46 inch GE RPTV (not HD compatible)? The picture is still good and I replaced the power supply about three years ago. I got a new plasma this morning (not as nice as the other David's) and I am wondering if I can get anything for the old TV. I have no idea what to price this item. Thanks.

you will have a hard time getting anything for it... one of my friends had a 35inch CRT non-HD TV listed on craigslist for 50$. After 3 weeks, he decided to list it for Free, within 30 minutes of listing it for free he had 10 calls.....
If i was you i would start at maybe 100 or 200$ see if anyone is interested, with the expectation of getting nothing for the TV..

I tried to sell a 21" CRT TV for $10 with no luck a while back.
Congrats on your new TV!

I have a friend that thought he could easily get $300 out of his old tv. It's still gathering dust in his basement.

I ended up giving mine to a friend. Same thing is happening with my 50" LCD RP- It's going to my friend. However, I did use it towards a trade for a paint job on the new house.

I would just list it on Freecycle.org, where you can choose to give it to a family or community center rather than it going to someone who would attempt to sell it for a (very minor) profit.

Or just list it for free, and get it out of your house and be done with it.

I would find some kids with a gaming system and set it up in the basement

My brother lives in a college town, and figured he could get rid of his 54" Hitachi RPTV easily for $200. No one wants the thing because it's so freaking heavy! I think he's just gonna put up with it and keep it for awhile.
BTW, I just gave away my old treadmill to a friend. I knew I couldn't sell it, but I thought I was gonna have to PAY someone to take it away. HAHA! Thank goodness it's gone.

Thanks for the suggestions. My wife is convinced that we could get $100 for it, but I think that $50 would be a stretch. I think that I have seen that Goodwill will not accept large standard def TVs. Maybe I will try freecycle.org.

Congrats on your new TV! My new one is a Panasonic Viera 50" plasma that I ordered today for less than $800.

I think the Goodwill in our area is now a designated electronics recycler, so they DO take basically any TV. YMMV.
