I don't suppose the QS8's are scheduled to be 'super-sized' in 2012? Next to the M80 and VP180, they don't seem to be sonically 'matched'. Is that an issue/should I be concerned?

Have you listened to them? The Qs8's are probably the best surround speakers out there, and they can handle plenty of power.

Hi tjmori, I'm a huge fan of AIX Records as you might have read on Axiom Forums. AIX Records is, with 2L of Norway, the only two companies which offer spectacular and unique multi-channels recordings (Blu-ray - TrueHD/HDMAster, SACD, DVD-A - MLP) which put the listener on the stage with the performers (AIX) or in the center of a circle formed by the performers (2L). They strongly recommend using identical speakers all around. The reason being that you have the sound of instruments played back from several speakers or a single one. You can have two identical instruments: one played back from one main large tower speaker and the other from one small surround speaker. You would tend to believe that a QS8 would reproduce the sound of that instrument quite differently than an M80; it would be kind of shocking. It is not the case, not at all. The Axiom QS8 is a phenomenal speaker delivering a stellar performance in such a role. It is very impressive to experience.

I wouldn't be concerned I have listened to a full M80 5.1 system and I prefer the QS8s over M80s for surround duty, perhaps if the room was larger I would have liked it better. The surrounds are not in direct line with the fronts where a larger center is required(IMO) to match/keep up with a floor standing speaker.
