Okay everyone, you’ve had time to get your best names ready for the Axiom Amps, I know it! As suggested by Ken in our last contest, this time around it’s a limit of three entries per person. (And since we’re all fine upstanding Axiomoes, we understand that that doesn’t mean create 27 new accounts on the Axiom Message Boards to get all your names entered!) Please take a minute to look over the amplifier pages to get a sense of the product, and then hit us with your best shot!

The 1000
The 1250
The 1500

The prize will be your choice of one pair of M3 Algonquin Outdoor Speakers, one pair of M3 Bookshelf Speakers, or Axiom Bucks in the amount of $368; whichever you prefer. Void where prohibited by law or the bounds of good taste.

Contest ends May 15th – hurry and get your one brilliant, golden, pithy jewel-of-an-entry in!

The Axiom Opus Series- Opus 1000, Opus 1250, etc. This one is Golden.

The Axiom Suite Series- Suite 1000, Suite 1250, etc. The double-Double entendre of this one makes it both Pithy AND Brilliant!

The Axiom Progression Series- Progression 1000, Progression 1250, etc. This one is a Jewel of an entry.

Axiom Standard 1000, 1250, 1500. Standard as in "The new standard" and/or "jazz standard"

I'm gonna resurrect the Epoch from my LFR suggestion, too. Goes well with Millennia: Epoch 1000, 1250, 1500.

Axiom Power 1000, 1250, 1500. Speaks for itself.

Now that's slick. If mpyw wins because the names stay the same as what they are currently, then I'm going to facepalm myself for not thinking of it first.

Axiom's new F1000, F1250, and F1500 amplifiers deliver the force you need to make your music and movies come alive.

You can add -# afterwards for the number of channels. Quicker to type and read "F1500-3" instead of "F1500 three channel."

First entry:

The RAmp Series:

R1000
R1250
R1500

This name is a play on words, using the following definition of 'ramp':

ramp: to increase, especially quickly or at a constant rate

----------------
Second entry:

The Foundation Series

F1000
F1250
F1500

foundation: 1 a body on which other parts rest or are overlaid; 2 an underlying basis or principle for something

EDIT: Hmmm, seems avjunkee snagged my letter! smile

Pulse Width Modulator or Pulse Wave Modulator

A came across a great definition. A technique for getting analog results within digital means.

PWM1000
PWM1250
PWM1500

I'm going to listen to my Axiom Omni-directional Linear Field Radiating speakers through my Pulse Wave Modulator amplifier.

I doubt that high tech terms are enjoyable nor understandable for the average person. ("Just push the octopus button on the Spongebob amp, son").

This lineup of Class-D amplifiers aren't really geared towards the average audio/home theatre enthusiast. At the price points it is more reaching the high end market of power amplification.

I keep coming back to the theme of flexibility. I really like the name Digiflex, or DigiFlex, to summarize how it's a digital amp with the flexibility to send more or less power as needed for the situation/set-up. I see that Digiflex is a name brand of cables, though (in Canada, no less). Maybe you can strike a kind of deal with them, pointing out that there's also Digiflex cameras, flex fuel converters, ink jet printing systems, digital servo drives, and hand exercisers, just on the first page of Google results for "Digiflex". So, just in case:

DigiFlex 1000 amplifier
DigiFlex 1250 amplifier
DigiFlex 1500 amplifier

Using some musical terms that perhaps imply class:

Legato - Indicates that the composition is to be played smoothly.

Axiom Legato 1000

Axiom Legato 1250

Axiom Legato 1500

OR:

Allegro - A direction to play lively and fast.

Axiom Allegro 1000

Axiom Allegro 1250

Axiom Allegro 1500

OR:

Canon (This covers it all): A musical form where the melody or tune is imitated by individual parts at regular intervals. The individual parts may enter at different measures and pitches. The tune may also be played at different speeds, backwards, or inverted.

Axiom Canon 1000

Axiom Canon 1250

Axiom Canon 1500

And one more (the opera crowd were a tough bunch):

Castrato - Male singers who were castrated to preserve their alto and soprano vocal range.

Axiom Castrato 1000

Axiom Castrato 1250

Axiom Castrato 1500

CD1500

CD meaning Class-D amplification.

Axiom CD1500 ultra efficient power amplifier.

or since one of its important talking points can be its high efficiency somehow getting an abbreviation in the model number as well.

For my last entry it is a combination of the first two but adding its efficiency rating which I think is such a selling point.

CD90/PWM90-1000/1250/1500

The most efficient and powerful amplifier in home audio.

I have to say though Pulse Width/Wave Modulator and Linear Field Radiating in the same sentence is so badass.

DPA1000, DPA1250, etc. Digital Power Amp.

I know Ben already mentioned PA, but not everyone will know that it doesn't stand for "Power Amp" but for "Pine Acre".

I've always thought "Muskoka" is powerful and meaningful.

I could see why ST could not be used in a direct reference to Spinal Tap....
but even if it was just called the Axiom Eleven it would be wickedly funny and so many people would get the joke. Great Idea!

Here's my final entry before making some silly ones...

AXIOM DSP1000
AXIOM DSP1250
AXIOM DSP1500

...or just DSP1000 ect without "AXIOM".

....and now for some serious suggestions

THE MOE1000
THE CURLY1250
THE LARRY1500

(sidenote...the CURLY1250 was recently replaced with the SHEMP1250 although many people appear to prefer the CURLY over the SHEMP.

My Final entry...

Axiom PS1000
Axiom PS1250
Axiom PS1500

PS = Power Series

so, this will be the 1xxx series, in future with better technology, they can continue the name with 2xxx series etc.

How about the Axiom Axe Series?
Axe 1000
Axe 1250
Axe 1500
It gets across the idea that these are no-nonense, no foolin', serious pieces of hardware.

Or, the Paradox Series -- as in, how'd they get so much power into such a little space that generates so little heat with so much headroom?
Paradox 1000
Paradox 1250
Paradox 1500

How about:?

1. Evolution 1000, Evolution 1250, Evolution 1500

Evolution playing on the refreshing design, and the ability to customize the configuration. No doubt this will be easily typed by EV1000, etc.

2. CPT 1000, CPT 1250, CPT 1500

Customized Power Transfer

My vote goes to Spongebob Squareamps. I've always wanted a squid button on my amp. The Eh series is a close second, and a nod goes to ampagedon as, that is surely what happens to your system when you turn these amps to 11.

I'd go with something like this:

AXAMP 10002
AXAMP 12502
AXAMP 15002

where the last digit will be the number of channels.

M80 v3, 2 x Emotiva UPA-1 Monoblocks, XPA-5, UMC-1 PrePro
Pro-Ject RPM Genie, Carver C2 Phono Preamp

My only entry,

I like things named after their designer/engineer. So, AW for that. I noticed that the power levels on 5 channels went from 625W to 1225W to 1660W. Kind of a log scale, which you would expect from an amp. So, to keep it simple...

AW2
AW3

How about Axiom Principle Series Amplifiers
P1000-D
P1250-D
P1500-D
Or... Axiom Pure Principle Series Amplifiers
PP1000-D
PP1250-D
PP1500-D

A nice tie-in with the definition of Axiom:

1. a self-evident truth that requires no proof.
2. a universally accepted principle or rule.
3. Logic, Mathematics . a proposition that is assumed without proof for the sake of studying the consequences that follow from it.

I have four names that I'd like to throw into the hat.

1. Evidence
2. Premise
3. Reason
4. Truth (though I believe Behringer use this for a speaker line)

If I were to choose one, I'd submit "Evidence".

An axiom is a premise so evident that it is accepted as true, without controversy.

The proof, as they say, is in the pudding. Evidence, in this case, being the proof.

Besides, Axiom Evidence just rolls off the tongue nicely doesn't it?

Full disclosure - I won the outdoor M3 naming contest. I hope this does not disqualify me from this contest!

Good luck to all.

This is suspenseful! All I can say at this point is there is a close race going on between two of the names, and the Big Kahuna must now decide. Oh, the angst!

After much angst and wringing of hands . . . the winner is . . . Advanced Digital Amplifier / ADA1000

Congratulations Haoleb! And of course thank you to everyone who entered. There was a three-way tie for second place, but this name was the winner overall.

Remind me to not pick a name not already in use next time. I didn't google the names I had picked until now. All three of them are already names of an amp (Apollo, Zeus, Spongebob).

Way to go Brandon, I was born in Maine, maybe I was one of the ties for second. If so then what would have been the odds of two Maniacs running one two.

Well I have only been here for just about 2 years now. I'm originally from Hawaii. Cant really call myself a Mainer just yet.

WOW! Talk about bucking the "go West & South (young man)" trend. You headed East & North. Welcome to the mainland, Brandon. That must have been a big change in climate, environment, and culture.

Yeah, Blame it on a woman. A mutual friend who I used to work with in hawaii introduced us and one of us had to move if there was ever going to be anything. As it happens now SHE wants to go to hawaii and move away from Maine for a while to try something different. We'll see!

Andrew or Ian, did you ever consider top- and bottom-firing drivers for the LFRs?

Oops. Posted to the wrong thread. Besides that, though, I was just curious how top- and bottom-firing drivers might fit into the sound power goals, etc.
