Personally, I would recommend going with a pair of subs equivalent to the EP600.. If not the 600, the something similar to it from another company.. My room is 2400cu/ft. I can tell you that there was a significant difference between 1 and 2 EP-600's in my room...

if you look at the pic I have room for 2 x ep500's each side of vp180 or 1 x ep600 or ep800 on the right side

I think you have room for a horizontal 600 under your 180... Build a stand to hold the 180 over the 600, then move your equipment to each side of the horisontal 600.. Then, put the second 600 on the back wall to the left of the book case, and Done. That is what i would do, if my room was yours.

Or, you could go with dual 500's as well if you would like...

I'm sure you can tell i REALLY like my dual 600's... i will admit that i do have a very slight bit of skewed preference grin ...

You could one sub, try it, and see how you like it before committing to a second one.

It'd be good if your budget allows for two subs, such as EP500s or EP350s, but placement to minimize the effect of room modes is desirable to get the most out of them. This generally means the mid-point of the front and back walls or the mid-points of opposite side walls or in diagonally opposite corners.

Looking at your room pictures, there's a possibility that diagonally opposite corners would work well. The front right corner seems to have enough room, and if room can be made in the left back corner(the chair is blocking the view), that should be an effective setup.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.
