Hi,
Has anyone compared or listened the music (same cd, same room size, let say 12x14)on both M60ti and M22ti + sub? I was wondering how the sound quality between them and how hard would it be to moving speaker around the room to get the best sound.

thanks a bunch.

I have. I formerly had M22/VP100/QS8 + Hsu STF-2, then moved up to M60/VP150/QS8 + STF-2 then got a VTF-3R.

The M22+STF-2 combo was amazingly good in all respects -- clarity, soundstage, etc. Then I upgraded to M60/VP150 (still with STF-2), and it was somewhat better. Just a fuller sound and greater presence, esp in the upper bass and lower midrange.

When I shipped my STF-2 back (nothing wrong with it), and temporarily was back to just M60s, I felt the loss of the sub.

I'd probably very narrowly prefer M22s + a good sub vs M60s and no sub. However that's because I like plenty of bass. I can easily understand people who like just M60s with no sub, esp for music.

M22s can be easier to position. They take up less space than the M60s, even if they're on stands. If not on stands, say on a bookshelf it's way less space. Of course the sub takes space, but you can usually find space in a corner.

I tried many different speaker positions. Was remodeling room so had no furniture and plenty of space. It makes a huge difference. With M22s in a small room you have somewhat more "elbow room" to try things. OTOH M60s sound great too. Obviously the ideal would be M60s plus a sub. If your room is on the small side, M60s may not be needed. M22s plus a sub gives truly great sound and take up little space.

Thanks, joema.

I like more bass too, but not the kind of bass that i hear people playing loud in the car. If M22ti+sub can give me, let say 80-90% quality sound as M60ti, i'm happy because if I get M60, it still need the sub anyway for HT.

Do you recognize any distortion on M22ti when volume increase to, let say level 6 or 7 in the range of 0-10?

thanks again

No distortion heard. Esp with a sub, a lot of the perceived loudness comes from the bass so you don't have to turn it up as loud to feel the same effect. In a smallish room I think M22s + a sub are ideal. They'll give you sound rivaling M60s with less size.
