So, i told my buddy i would send him my BDP 83se.. I want to get a replacement on the way prior to shipping it to him... This is where the question comes in.... The "replacement" will be a stop gap product.. I would like to get a product that has streaming and also has analog outputs... Component video is an absolute must... 7.1 analog isn't a must, i can an an optical or digital coax connection..

I think 100-150$ would be my ideal price range, as i will be getting an Oppo
BDP-105 once i buy a display that has HDMI connections.

So far this is the product that seems to be the best fit for my needs..

Too funny. On Christmas eve, my spinner wheel on my TV decided to die. Normally, I would just buy the part and fix it, but it's an older TV *and* I had a Wii U waiting for my kids on Christmas day. So I ran out and got a new TV. And since my Denon 3808 can't use ARC, I can't use my PS3 to check out the 3D capabilities. Well, not w/o losing HD audio, anyway.

Long story short, I asked my family if they were interested in 3d content (of course the kids said "yes!"). So I'll likely order the BDP's network BD player. It can split video and audio so I'll still get some years out of my 3808.

I was thinking about grabbing the new 4520 model, but I'll likely skip one more generation.

Santa brought me a Sony BDP-S590 to compliment my PS3 in my HT - mostly to be able to play SACDs in surround as my newest PS3 doesn't do that. I'll be semi-retiring my 10 year old Sony 5-Disc DVD Player that has given me hundreds of hours of fine entertainment over its life. Last night it gave me a wonderful show on 'Polar Express' upscaled through my Denon AVR.

The S590 gets very good reviews for disc playback, although these machines are becoming streaming boxes with disc playing being very secondary. Big bang for the buck also.

Don't know what the connections are on the back though, as I'll be using HDMI into my Denon AVR...

If your set accepts component video input only but 1080i, check out this website "HDFury.com". They will solve your HDMI>component input issue which will enable you to purchase any Blu-Ray player you want now.
