Does this include badly drawn recreations of my basement?
My guess is that anyone's 2 year old may draw a basement better than i did. Perhaps i'll stick to the digicam.
I"ll do a panorama today of the new speaker setup for all to see but you have to promise not to laugh at our furniture or colour choices

After seeing Duff's setup i'm sure i can beat that for shoddy tidyness (jus kiddin Duff). 
Ok then, the contest is on.
Who can send in photos of the cleanest, sweetest Axiom setup?
And who can send in photos of the most student-like, "M22s make great clothes hangers", i don't-know-where-my-jewel-cases-have-gone setup?
Note how Big_L has pretty yellow flowers on the speakers. That's very organic.

I thought the flowers were a nice touch. However, it is often hard to judge the size of a pictured item without anything in the picture to use as a size guide. So, i handed Amie my photos today and i included 2 dogs of various sizes (28lbs and 130lbs) and for empirical reference, the tv is a whopping 20".
Plus, i added the new placement for my EP350 so ppl can get a gauge of just how large it is compared to the M60s.

The EP350 in cherry is superb. It is larger than my ottoman. Actually had trouble finding a place for it in the basement. Thank heaven it sounds pretty decent as you see it in the picture. Took some mild tweaking but surprisingly not alot.
You can see just how large it is compared to the M60s. Quite formidable i say.

Funny that this just occurred to me, will Alan, Joe and Ian/Amie (or other Axiom fanatic staff) submit your home picture setups?
I don't know why i have this preconceived notion that Ian's setup will have about 6 pairs of M80s in front, back, surrounds and possibly on the ceiling with a 50" plasma tv and real movie theare chairs.

while we all look at the pictures, i'm somewhat confused. okay, if you sell speakers, you're sure to have speakers in your house. if a person sold cars, they're sure to have a new car in their driveway. but here's where my confusion lies: i sell replacement appliance parts, but i dont have parts in my family room...so why do i have axioms? guess i better tell the wife i'm adding some belts, pumps and motors scattered around before i can submit pictures..

Ah, you only think they're not Axioms ... let's say they are first order blood relations, brothers to the M60.
The center channel is a Klipsch, a gigantic refrigerator sized Klipsch, sort of like an Axiom made Merak MC6H without the trapezoid cabinet but with the same layout, but huge ... 8" drivers instead of 6.5" and a HUGE horn tweeter instead of a little 7" x 3" tweeter.
BTW, that's the replacement Anthem PVA-5 amplifier, no blue lightning bolts and sudden death. The Kenwood KA9100 amp is having its output board getting re-soldered.
Yes, those are the Radio Shack Super Tweeters good to 40KHz ~3db. I don't know why they change the sound since I can't hear anything above 15KHz, but they do.

Front projection wouldn't work for me with my layout. The TV is against the wall that is a partial wall. The wall is open at the top and slants down the side since the steps are on the other side of it. Wouldn't project too well without the flat surface. I guess a screen could be hung down or something, but I don't see that happening without a dedicated HT room. I'm still a couple of years away from a TV anyway (assuming I can resist that long).

Well, I hang a big rollup screen on the front wall of our multi-purpose living room, so that the screen will cover the built-in "entertainment shelves" and an unused fireplace when it is rolled down. The living room is an open space and has huge windows that do not even have a shade (yet). Still, the projector produces a stunning big picture after dark. I could not have possibly achieved this with a big-box TV or a plasma.
Projectors becoming this affordable lately, front projection is well worth serious considerations with or without a dedicated HT room.
Something to keep in mind for your future planning...

Do you have a seperate TV in the room for daytime viewing? Do you watch everything on the projection or only movies?
I have a sliding glass door behind the couch in my room, and recently bought some room darkening liners to hang behind the curtains. There was too much glare during the day....much better now.

No, one entire wall of our living room is basically all windows facing the backyard, without any window treatments (yet). So, the room is VERY brightly lit during daytime. The projector is next to useless during the day. We kept a 32" tube TV on the built-in shelf on the front wall, and installed a big pulldown screen in front of the shelf. I just uploaded a series of photos of our "living-room HT" in the AVSforum. Please see this thread.

We just added a DLP to our mix, too, Sushi - and we have a wall of glass, 26 feet high, facing the lake . . . you're right, TV during the day is a wash. Although with our old rear-projection TV, we would mostly just see ourselves reflected back in it during the day, so it's an improvement on that. But the clarity after dark! Wow! We did an A/B test throughout the course of a day and you could tell two hours before the sun went down who the hands-down winner was.

yes ,the m80s are sitting on top of 2 velodyne subwoofers.i always found that i get the best soundstage when the tweeters are at the same height,and the height is not a problem because my seat is 22' away.i have 4 rubber vibration isolater cubes under each m80 and the subs are spiked through the carpet.with all the levels set right the subs dont affect the soundstage like some would think.i tried probbably 2 or 3 million speaker positions(give or take a few) and luckily this one looks and sounds the best.when the kids are sleeping i shut the subs off and can still enjoy a movie thanks to the m80 powerfull bass.right now i am running a marantz thx-ultra 150x5 @8 ohms so im guessing at 4 ohms it might give the mains 200 or225 watts each.i am looking into a nad 218thx amp that is rated at 430 per channel at 4 ohms because the m80s are begging me for it...thanks Ron

I had my M22s sitting on top of two NHT subs for several months a while back. I also used small rubber feet to separate them. I heard nothing bad from this set up. In fact, it seemed to sound slightly better than when they are on the speaker stands.

Oh... Poor rcvecc! Are you watching that tiny little TV screen from whopping 22' away? We watch a 120" diagonal from 13' away -- and believe or not, that ratio is pretty close to the THX-Home recommended specs.
Time for you to get a front projector, isn't it?

i'm working on it now,i would say within about 6 months or so i should have a projector.i am learning about them now,but i have to demo the model that i will buy in a store,and the problem is the only set-ups that i have found in my area start at about $7000.i am going to plan a day trip into new york and see what i can find at a more reasonable price.but for now , i'll just climb up on my roof and look south west and maybe catch a movie on your 120" screen... lol.....Ron

Yeah, that's a very common problem in almost every town in the US -- Front projectors are still presented as the high-end, luxury item in most B&M stores, which is NOT true at all. I picked up my Yamaha at about US$2800 in Tokyo. The reality is, with FP you can get bigger, more film-like, and more enjoyable image at a cost substantially lower than the latest RPTV's and plasmas, AS LONG AS you have at least some degree of ambient light control.

Yeah, my huge 8'x10' pulldown, custom masked to a 120"-diagonal 16:9 viewing area, was US$630 including shipment.
Of course, if you look at the "elite" brands such as Stewart, or the electric retractables with an electric variable masking system etc, the sky has no ceiling.

Yeah, and you have to actually talk to the vendors to get the good prices; don't pay the prices posted online. Same thing with the projectors -- call and ask for a better price.

Here's my together system. Well, most of it anyway. (My Cambridge Soundworks bi/dipoles don't deserve to be in a picture.) If I were to describe it, I'd call it "bachelor chic civilized by marriage." The room is about 12' x 13'.
This shot captures the combination entertainment center / speaker stand. Notice the "inconspicuous" SVS PB1-ISD subwoofer in the lower-left (under the burlap sack). Also notice the 32" Mitsubishi CRT TV. What?! You didn't know they made CRTs?! Well, that shows how old it is.
This shot shows my wife's wedding shoes placed prominently atop the VP100.
And finally, here's the HT mascot, Tex the fat deaf cat.

I have a web server at work that I store the pictures on. Then, it's a matter of enclosing the picture's URL in the UBBCode picture tags, like this (without the extra spaces):

Don't temp me with that VP150. I know it would look better. Plus, it would displace those two knick-knacks [evil grin].
Hmmm... the cost of a new VP150 is less than the cost of trading in my M22s and VP100 for new finishes....

Have you emailed Amie about the upgrade offer they have for the new finishes? New finishes on a pair of M22's and a VP100 is definately cheaper than a brand new VP150.

Not so in my case. 
I figured out it would cost me about $375 (not including shipping), to trade my M22s and VP100 in for new speakers with custom non-glossy finishes. My M22s were factory outlet, so their trade-in value is lower.

I guess my picture is now imortalized on the Axiom wall-of-fame. What do you all think about there being an actual link on the Axiom site to the owners pictures? On one hand it would be more convienient, but on the other hand it's pretty cool that we've got access to a secret little part of the Axiom site. Hmmm...what say thee?

Well, Sushi shamed us into it. . . here's the new Ian-and-Amie setup.
I had been all excited to try one of the new custom finishes, but when we got it all built, the Light Maple blended in perfectly . . . The VP150s are being held up by Full Metal Brackets, by the way. We have 5 QS8s in Light Maple as well, for our surround speakers.

I'm seeing an astounding speaker setup with a lovely visual opportunity in front, however, those HUGE glass windows to the left seem to be letting in a fair bit of ambient light and i can't see the picture.
There doesn't appear to be any curtains or curtain rods visible.
Is this a night-time only theatre?
A drive-in at the lake so to speak?

Looks like the windows have a little tint on them. You cannot under estimate the effect that stuff has. We tinted the windows at our house with the least dark stuff they had and it works awesome. Keeps glare down and such, but more importantly keeps heat out. Critical when you live on the edge of the desert. Not a factor in Canada, eh?

My understanding from Amie's previous post is that the huge window is facing a LAKE!!! So, I guess it's VERY dark at night even without window treatments. And if you live in such a nice location, why would you ever want to watch crappy movies during daytime???

Assuming the screen were used for both tv and movies, then of course, during the day use would HAVE to cover the football season!!

M80s are about 40" tall. The screen looks about 50% taller than the speakers, or about 60". One of Da-Lite's standard sizes is 58" x 104", for a diagonal of 119". I bet that's what they have.

My Hales fronts are about the same size as the M80.
I just need 5 more speakers!!!

Hmm . . . that generated lots of questions! Yup, it's nighttime only. The wall of glass is not tinted - just looks out over green, green tress and a blue, blue lake. So just as Sushi said, no TV needed during the day! I don't know a thing about the hookup (blissful wife!) but yes, the two centers are both processing center channels, and the current experiment with the surrounds is four surrounds and a center rear vs 2 surrounds and 2 rears - I'll keep you posted! The screen is indeed 119" diagonal - it lowers another two or three feet for optimal movie viewing if you're in a barcalounger . . .

Just noticed rcvecc's system. I don't think it's such a good idea to put a speaker directly on a subwoofer. All the subwoofer's resonance would transmit directly to the speaker cabinet. YIKES!

I was doing the same thing for a while, and if anything, the sound was better than now.. I took them down when I learned that subs were not normally shielded, and to try some new speaker placements..
As I said, the M80's sounded better on top of the subs.. Go figure, eh..
