Hello, I'm in desperate need of help or suggestions. I just purchased my first set of axioms, m80s, about 2 months ago. They are hooked up flawlessly just so this is clear. This is NOT a connection problem.

They are biwired and have been since the beginning.

They have worked perfect for almost 2 months. And now, when I need them more then ever(lots of horrible stuff going on in my life and really needed some loud music tonight), I go to turn them on and realize that my right axiom is working, but only the midranges and tweeters. My subwoofers are dead

It's not the source material, it's not the wiring and obviously must be the speaker. Is there something I can do to get the subwoofers in the right channel working again? I'm desperate.

the only help I could find on the site was this:

http://www.axiomaudio.com/boards/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=381908&page=1

Please note...it is not an amplifier problem, nor a connection problem.

It's obviously a problem with the woofers or crossover itself. They are completely dead

I'm going through a divorce and these speakers are essentially my only possessions left. I finally have a day off work, no kids visiting and in this empty house, I go to sit down and spend a long night with my speakers, my only source of comfort at this moment, and the one doesn't work properly frown

I'm bummed out frown

I have no doubt they will fix the problem, but it just figures this would happen to me right now

I had a similar problem with mine. Mid range though. It does sound like the same thing.
There was a loose connection/crimp at the back of the plastic basket that separates the woofers and mids.
After crimping the connection and replacing the mid range I've had no issues.
At the time I was worried it might have also been related to my receiver and I purchased an amp, just in case.
Not that it matters but I figured the receiver cost $1000 and the speakers $1500 so a $1200 amp seemed like inexpensive insurance(that's how I justified it with the wife).

I'll wait to talk with them. I have no problem taking woofers or whatever out, but I don't want it to void my warranty.

To be honest, I've never had to deal with any such things before when it comes to new speakers.

Again, figures it would happen to me at this moment frown It can only get worse from here it seems...and I'm just venting about life in general.

I love the sound these speakers produce

Nick, sorry to hear of the difficulties you're having. Although you emphasized that the wiring isn't the problem, since you didn't specifically say so, I'm going to ask if you took the speaker wire from the other speaker and connected it to the silent woofers to make sure that the wire to them didn't develop a defect.

If that's not it, it can be assumed that two woofers didn't simultaneously fail. That would leave the internal wiring from the input terminal to the crossover or the low frequency section of the crossover itself. If you can open up the enclosure to see if the internal wire has vibrated loose, that would check that possibility. If it's the crossover itself, that would require a call to Axiom for replacement and listening in mono in the meantime.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

Yep, tried different speaker wire as suggested.

Also, for the hell of it, put the brackets back in and UN-biwired it.

Still nothing.

I placed a call and left a message. I have a feeling it's the crossover itself like you mentioned. I'd like to talk to them before unscrewing anything.

it's just the timing of it all that has me more bummed then anything. I can't even begin to describe my need to have listened to my speakers in their full glory tonight.

I'm not clear on this: Did you ensure that the metal bar that connects the top and bottom pair of connectors on the speakers is in place and try just one set of cables to the speaker?

(I'm assuming that with your bi-wiring setup, that connector bar is NOT normally in place).

Of course.

See note in original post, this is NOT a connection problem. Doesnt matter now. Somethings faulty and ill just have to wait for axiom to call me back
