Hey all. New to the forums and a recent Axiom customer.
I have been meaning to upgrade my main floor stereo speakers for some time and recently pulled the trigger on a pair of M100's at the end of July (just went with the standard black oak finish) . I had been leaning towards M80's but now I'm glad I waited. Some of the other finishes looked great but the wife is okay with the similar finish on the speakers they replace so I'll spend the money upgrading something else (perhaps a new power supply and DAC for my Squeeze box... see below).
I'll be interested in seeing how they compare against the 13+ old PSB Tower T5's they replace. I'll be driving them with my all-Rotel system (RB-1080 amp). I'm also interested to hear how they compare with my home theatre mains (Totem Forests driven by an Anthem AVM50[equiv, upgrade] and Bryston 9B SST2). I'm expecting some serious bottom end improvement as well as more volume (the wife likes to crank it when cleaning).
I'm also an avid fan of the now-defunct Squeezebox devices. I've been using them since they first came out (still have the first gen device as a keepsake though it's disfunctional now). I have several models of them of throughout the house all driven by my Linux-based server with all-FLAC audio. I have a few spares so hopefully I'm good for years to come. Seems Sonos would be where I'd go to if they started dropping like flies. There is some movement in the Squeezebox community so perhaps we'll have an open solution by then.
Anxiously awaiting my tracking info now.
/Arthur

Way cool! Welcome and enjoy -- they're gonna be glorious, I suspect. Of course, we'll want a thorough review.

Added some outriggers too now. Guy I talked to expects mine to ship mid-next week. Apparently some M100's are starting to go out today.

If they don't have M100's available, would you take four M50s?

Murph, if "cup size" makes you think first of Tim Horton's, we need to talk.

Awesome! I'm jealous. Post pictures. Will do. Awaiting my tracking number. Unfortunately, not looking like I'll get them this week. I kinda hoped to drive the neighbours crazy this weekend. Oh well.

Update: Day 21. Still no tracking info. At this point, looks like next week earliest as even if they shipped today, I doubt they'd make it by the weekend. Web page still claims "ships in 7 business days". I suspect that must not be a realtime-updated value as I'm skeptical of that for the M100's until the apparent backlog is cleared.

Delivered, unboxed, and listening to few initial songs. Nora Jones - Come Away With Me, Rush - Tom Swayer too. Initial impressions are:
- massive speakers! The wife's eyebrow certainly spiked when the boxes were pulled from the delivery van. - significant improvement over the speakers they replace. Bottom end is amazing. Neighbours are gonna hate them.
Will be revisiting many CDs over the next bit it would seem.

Awesome!
Any pictures of the delivery, hauling into the house, your wife's "raised eyebrow," unboxed speakers, etc?

/a That sounds a lot like stinkeye. Glad they made it to ya before the weekend. Enjoy PS : We expect a full review with pictures as well. Richard

Some pix. Here's when the first came in the house. Crappy photo. Here's a picture of the boxes after they're unpacked. The cabinet behind is 56" tall. Here's a quick pick of me working on installing an outrigger. Here's a comparison in size between the PSB Image T5 (older model) and the M100. Here's the M100 in place with all grills on. Stripping off the top grill. Stripping off the middle grill. And finally, completely naked. The upgraded system.

Listening to Diana Krall's - Love Songs this morning. Very detailed. Love the sound of the upright bass. Big tweeter improvement. Can hear more fret noise and jangling strings. Coffee somehow tests better too. Go figure.
