Mark and Murph ask that you change the angle from the rear. We can't see.

Well, I've just committed the ultimate heresy and will probably be shunned by all audiophiles. I know that the Axiom staff do not feel so warm about room correction but I has some real problems with my 2-channel listening environment. One wall that is adjacent to a speaker holds a thick wall covering while the wall adjacent to the other speaker includes a glass panelled door. We also have a love seat between the two speakers but much closer to the right tower.

Last week, I asked the set-up expert at a local hi fi storeroom help me figure out what to do about the space and about the boomier than acceptable sound beng generated in the environment. The set-up guy recommended that buy a Pioneer receiver with room correction electronics.

Of course, when I took a look across the Internet, I "discovered" that there are all sorts of room correction possibilities out there. Well, I now have one, its the DSPeaker Anti-Mode and you know what - it's absolutely amazing. That soundstage that elusive soundstage that, no matter how I exercised my limited placement options, refused to properly reveal itself has now done so.

My Sons now passes through an M-DAC and sends a Sabre DAC chipped, jitter free signal to the DSPeaker which processes, in particular, the bass sounds and sends them on to my Quad 99 pre.

An absolutely fantabulous result. If you are unfamiliar with the DSPeaker room correction device - look it up.

Anyway, I'm not looking back and the purists can burn me at the stake but, I'd rather have good sound than stick to orthodoxies. At last, Dire Straits is playing right in front of me - right in front Emanuel Ax is playing his piano in my living room right under the front window - wow!

I bought a Pioneer SC-61 and I absoulutely love everything about it, especially MCACC.

As you can see, my right speaker is sort of in a corner and my left speaker has a huge open space into the dining room.

I find after calibration it's not as boomy, but other than that not much changes. This to me means my speaker placement is about as ideal as I can get it in my current room. The only other slight difference I notice is that the center image seems to lower down to the center of my tv. Without calibration it sounds about 1 to 2 feet higher.

This is all pretty new to me, but I'm loving what all the new technology can offer.

I still run into "purists" on a weekly basis.. One is a good friend and believes the motto "they don't make em like they used to". His 30 year old sound dynamic concert monitors crush my m80s apparently smirk

I say take advantage of the great technology at our hands.

Pat, it shouldn't be considered "orthodox" these days to fail to recognize that room problems affect all speakers, even the best, and that room correction processing can be of significant benefit. Keep in mind that the wonders of modern audio technology will never be accepted by some, who even continue to harbor fantasies about obsolescent technology such as LP recordings and tube amplification.

Great to hear that the Anti-Mode is working well for you and helping you to enjoy great classical music.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

Agreed. Nothing wrong with room correction, IMHO. The room can play a huge role (positive or negative) in how things sound. Using a tool that gets things back to the way things are 'supposed' to sound is a good thing.
