To those who have had M80's all around, would you do it again?

I can't wait to try out 5.0.

No.. but it was one heck of an experience, though made absolutely no acoustic sense, I had 3 pairs (6) m80's and I thought that it would be cool to feel like this vid..

I later went on to sell a pair to a user here called Ravi, sold another pair to a friend and have just sold the last pair a couple of months ago on kijiji to upgrade to the new m100's

Can you elaborate on not making "acoustic sense".
Also, how well did the M80 hold up when used as L/C/R in your room?

I remember cranking up the volume on the denon 4802 (at a time where denons had good amps) listening to the Topgun movie in stereo 6.. intro scene.. and sorta felt like this..

I had them L/R, sides, and rear .. using them mostly in 6 channel stereo. never tried using a m80 as a center but In 7.1 application the sound stage was just horrible.. and in 6 channel stereo it was just overwhelming to get any kind of quality sound in the size room I had them in, if you want a really good sound stage and quality sound, it would be wise to use the right kind of speaker setup for the application... I did a lot of speaker experimentation , also using a bunch of vp150 also for surrounds (as per Joe vassello's advice)but found at the end the best sound achieved was with the traditional speaker application setup. I guess best advice on this is m80 are best used as mains.

I confirmed my order today. Guess I'll know in a month or so.
I do like my M80s sound stage, phantom center sounds better than my actual center.
I run them as large for music and am considering running them with my AVR set to large with my new units.
I do find male voices are sumwhat artificially deep with the phantom center and subs turned off but this could be related to their placement.

different situations such as room size avr's or amps and m80 version all have an impact on results, my m80's were the first versions, if you don't like the results, you have 30 days to return them... then you might want to try a vp180 for the center channel...

please inform me of your results

I use 3 m80's for the front sound stage and love it. I put the center in my theater behind a AT screen. Couldn't say enough positive about it.

I'm glad to hear it.
No pun intended.
I'm very exited to get them home and set up.

I believe the only one I know is Dennis out in CA, he hasn't been on the boards in a long time. Peter and Ken were able to here is setup driven by Parasound amps. M80' all the way around, and I believe multiple subs.
