I am looking to get a surround sound system soon for a 26X25 room (with 8' ceilings). Currently i am looking at the epic 50 system with an additional qs4 (am running 6.1). since i dont know much about axiom was wondering what you guys thought about the choice or any other suggestions you have. i will be using it 75% for movies and 25% music. would like to stay under the $2000 mark. thanks in advance...

$2000 CAD or US?

that's a nice size room.

You can mix and match the speakers as well. I'd get:

mains: M60 (if too expensive, M22)
center: VP150
surrounds: QS8's.

as for subs, some people buy from HSU or SVS, but if you want an Axiom sub, get the biggest, the EP350

send me an email if you;d like

Many here will tell you that you can't go wrong by going with Hsu. My understanding is Hsu is great for HT but also equally adept at music. Have fun!!

M60-$800
VP150- $350
QS8's- $470
HSU STF-2- $399

Total: $2019

The difference between the quality in the speakers (M60 vs M50, VP150, vs VP100, QS8 vs. QS4) shown is more impressive than the difference between going to 6.1 vs 5.1. Remember, there is no tax and free shipping with Axiom's speakers, I do not know about HSU's policy.

I have heard the M50s and own the M22's. The M22's are a much cleaner speaker according to the listening tests I did. And the M60 is supposed to sound just like the M22 only with more bass.

I'm definitely going with the 6.1 setup, just wondering what the best speaker combo would be for under $2k. i was thinking with 3 qs4's i would be alright, am i wrong??? also is the m50's and vp100 not good enough for the room and why?

Coch, to stay under $2,000 my suggestion is the M60s(a little more midrange presence and detail than the M50s), a vertical M2 center(don't care for most horizontal centers), 3 QS4s for your surrounds, plus a good sub of your choice.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

Coch, I have the VP100 and I find it to be terrific. The only place it suffers is in comparison to the VP150. Honestly, if there is a budget concern, this is a place where you can save some $$ and not sacrifice much audio.

I'll second JohnK's recommendations - w/ one caveat: How about two M2s for a center channel? Placed like ears on each side of the TV - that would work, and look, pretty damn good. For HT the SVS sub sounds like a no-brainer.

what do u guys think about this, m60's for the front, vp100 for the center, 3 qs4's for surround and hsu stf-2 sub. like i said before the room is 26'X25' with the main sitting area being about 12' from the tv.

i think that would work fine, as long as you dont end up getting a case of 'upgradeitis'.. the QS8's will work better in that space(for the sides) and if you go with the QS4's, you might always wonder "what if". and that is a horrible feeling. i think the M60's and 150 will be great, but consider the bigger QS8's for your surround.

just my $.02 cents worth..
