Hello all,

I've been lurking on the boards here for a year or so and finally decided I could contribute something. I've yet to purchase my 1st Axioms, but it the process of choosing my setup I came across something I thought might be of service to my fellow board members.

I've been trying to choose what wood and grill cloth color combos I'd like. I know Axiom will send a sample for $10, but I guess I'm too impatient and stingy to send off for all the combos I'd like to see. My solution was to model one of Axiom's speakers (start with a v100 center for simplicity) and use the provided images of wood and grill material to create a good idea of what some of the combos look like. I think the modeling turned out pretty well, and while the real thing may look a little different this gives a pretty good idea of how a given combination might look. Here's the first example in Axiom's Sorrel Pear with Light Gold cloth.

Full size images can also be seen here: Grill On and Grill off

Now that I have the speaker modeled, its not too much trouble to put other finishes on it. If anyone is interested in a particular combo let me know and I'll try to put up a link to some pictures. Finally you can see what that combo looks like without shelling out $10.

Wow, nicely done. I wonder if axiom would be interested in your services You could make a nice little interactive "custom speaker" utility with those pics.

Only, to be 100% accurate, on the vp150 the front top and bottom edges are not rounded like that. I don't think there's a sinlge rounded "facet" on any of my axioms.

Well to be fair, this was all I had to base my model off of.

Of course I'd be more than willing to make a perfectly accurate model if someone would like to lend me the real deal! Let me know if there are any combos or particular angles you'd like to see.

No that rotating thing is accurate, but those two facets are flat, not rounded. If you look at the rotating graphic you can kinda tell on some of the angled shots. There's a very slightly rounded edge leading to the flat facet, if that makes sense. I'm just nitpicking anyway, your model looks quite good!

not bad.. here is a link to the thread with pics of my speakers.

yours isnt too bad.. the wood grain looks good, but the grills seem too dark. they have much more 'pop' in person. i think in general, the color on yours seems to be a little dark. but as ringmir was saying, we are being nit picky, they look really good.

and just to add a little, i really like the color combo i got. they look great in my living room. even my wife thinks so, and that is saying A LOT.

In your pics, bigjohn, the grills have a bit of pink in them. Not the case in KaylinR's pics. (Monitor settings may vary).
