hey guys i have a new HT brewing and need a little help. here is what i am thinking of doing. please let me know what you think about this setup and remember that it is very cost efficient and i would like to keep it that way if at all possible as long as the system will sound good.

reciever: HK 225
mains: Axiom M2i
center: Axiom vp-100
Surrounds: Axiom M2i
Sub: HSU stf-2

i already have ordered the sub and reciever. i am looking at using this system for about 85% HT. PLEASE give your input as i am new to home theater and can use all of the help that i can get.

you need to keep in mind, that all this is relative to what size room it is going in. with you looking at the M2's, i would get the impression that you have a smaller space.. in that case, to save some money, on your sub, bump down to the stf-1, and use the xtra cash to get QS4's for surrounds. they are worth it.. just my opinion.

the VP100 will be fine for a center.

well its in a finished basement... im guessing the room is about 15x25? just an estimate. going on this size, what would you recomend i do? should i jump up to the m22's for mains? i could probably get the extra money for these but that is about all i could upgrade to. let me know what you guys think... thanks

Welcome, 93. Although you have enough room for bigger speakers, the M2s should be fine if you don't need extremely high levels. I agree with John that QS4 surrounds would be a better idea for your use and would suggest keeping the cost about the same by using a vertical M2 as the center.

Well if it possible to scratch a bit funds then certainly the M22 would be nicer. As others have said the Qs4 would be better for surrounds. So if you can get the M22's and Qs4's then do so. If not and you can only scratch togethor enough for M22 fronts or Qs4 surrounds then one possibility would be to get the M2's for fronts Qs4 for surrrounds, and at a later date update your fronts and use the M2 for rear surrounds in a 7.1 system at a later date.

Good luck, Mike
