Actually, it is in North Alabama. I work in Huntsville, AL which will be about 35 minutes from my house. The lot I am building on is 1.8 acres. Glad you guys are taking such an interest. I will need the advice on prewiring and other items. I have thought about a front projector already...but am not really sure I will get one in this house. If I did, I wouldn't know which one to get.

The deal with the house is that both my dad and brother are contractors so I am getting a great deal on building. My family is really close so it has already been a great thing getting to work together with them. Somehow I got stuck working with computers...funny how that works. I will definitely keep you guys posted on the progress. I'm sure I will have plenty of questions. Thanks guys.

Go with a front projector. My personal favorite is the infocus SP4805. It is the first 16:9 affordable(sub 1500$) DLP projector available. For a good 50" plasma you can get a great 120" projector Take your time and do the research and have fun finishing off your house!!

Wow...sweet! You'll not have to worry about neighbors complaining about your system being loud! As excited as I am about our new place and the work we're doing, I still long to build my own place some day. *sigh*...likely never to happen if I stay in the city.

Very nice. Keep us updated as you go.

From Alan, "...a summer place on an island I'd bought on the East side of Lake Huron..."

Must be nice to buy yourself an island! Maybe we're paying too much for Axioms?

My wife's family owns some land that includes an island. But the island is on a river. Depending on the time of year, the island is either there or not. Consequently, there are no standing structures. Useless island.

Are you sure that island is not in the Bermuda Triangle?

Hi Jason, Might I suggest running some vacuum tubing for the wiring to run through or at least some electrical conduit. It makes pulling the wires much easier, especially if uprgrading later once the walls are covered. I wish I had done it now that I am trying to pull 30 ft of component wiring through to the TV.
