My basement is nearly finished. My entertainment room is 13'x20' with 8' ceilings. Walls on all 4 sides. The listening area is in the center of the long wall across the narrow dimension (13'). That puts me 10'-11' from the TV and fronts.

We watch some DVD's. Depending on who goes to the video store we typically end up with action or drama. We don't typically listen loudly but enjoy a "full" sound experiance. I'm most concerned about clear voice than loosening mortar with base.

We listen to a fair amount of music. Mostly Rock and Pop. Occasionally loud (when my wife is out) but usually at what i'd call moderate levels. Music quality is more important than Home Theater.

$1,800 is the top end I can spend on speakers. The big question, What should I get?

My thoughts based on little knowledge are M60's, QS4's, VP150, EP175. I'm not bound to this so if you have a better idea let it rip.

My concerns/questions with this selection:

1) room size. It's a relatively shallow room. What problems am I likely to encounter? Is this a real concern?

2) Sub - Do I need one with the M60's?

3) Would M22's be more appropriate up front?

Thanks for your input.

That is a sweet system that you've got picked out, either with the 22's or the 60's. I have a room with similar dimensions but with a 9x8 bumpout (big hole!) to the right of my setup, and the Epic Master system (M3's, QS4's, VP100, EP175) is awesome in it. From everything I've seen on this topic, the 22's should more than impress in a room of this size, but someone who has the towers will weigh in with some more details. In either case, the whole system will be enhanced with a sub. Good luck in your search!

I almost have the same setup you are considering. (Thank you Marc). It is being delivered today. (if the FedEx God's are willing that is) The only diffrence is that I have QS8's instead of QS4's. My room is 13X23. My receiver will be the lonely Yamaha RX-V1300. If you want a newbie opinion, message me and I'll tell you about it upon the completion of my setup.

Good selection.
Your room size is larger than mine and i'm running the M60s, QS8s, EP350 and VP150.
The sub is a nice addition for home theatre. I would skip the sub for music because i like the nice tight bass of the M60s but with any amount of rumble from pipe organs, dance music, etc., it is well worth it.
