Hey Axiom gurus... I bought a set of used M22ti's and they were damaged in shipping. The crossover network on 1 speaker was cracked in transit. I soldered the foil and it seems to work fine. I believe the cost of a new network is around US $60.00. Would you accept this repair or replace it? Do I risk the chance of damaging the speakers by continuing to use them like this? Help! I'd love to save a few bucks, but, what would you do? Thanks for your suggestions...

i dont see where you would be out any additional money out of your pocket. i would call or email the company. if you received the speakers damaged, then you are entitled to having them replaced, at no cost to you. i wouldnt have even tried to repair them, i would have sent them right back.

you really need to speak with someone at the compnay about your problem.. their customer service is second to none, and i reckon they would take care of you.

These were used speakers from a private party on Audiogon, not Axiom. Insurance covered the damage... In fact, they were totaled and I ended up getting them for free after an agonizing 6-8 weeks or so. I just want to know if this repair is sufficient or should I replace the network? Thanks again and apologies to Axiom if it came across that they short changed me. Another experience and a different story with their customer service assures me that they are second to none...

My opinion, if they sound good. Leave it alone.
Now if you think they are degraded by this damage, I would replace the part. As long as the repair was done properly you shouldn't have any problems.

I've built lots of crossovers in my life. As long as all of the caps, coil, resistors and solder joints are fine then you shouldn't need to replace the xover.

I would do some serious listening to determine if you have a problem.

Good Luck!

Tom

I've used them this way for almost a year now... I did some research and used a small wire and solder to bridge the foil and repair it. It sounds great to me. I do push them hard on occaision. However, I have this nagging thought in my head that they could toast at anytime when I run some h/k 125 wpc high current through them... I'm a cheapskate and love great value, hence Axiom speakers. Am I being too tight? p.s. I am saving up for M60 or M80's to further enjoy my audio bliss...

If it bothers you then replace it. I understand the "what if's". I'm anal with my audio equipment and cars, so I know exactly what you’re saying. However, I'm not saying that you are anal .

The repair is probably fine. It's a common practice to use jumpers to fix damaged foil tracers.

Just to make sure everything's straight on this, I want you to know that almost no one here is an employee of Axiom. There are a few who run around on the boards (Alan, Amie, Ian), but they almost never will answer a question like this in a public forum. You would probably be better off calling them to get the info from the horse's mouth, as it were.
