For as much as it pains me, I must sell my Mansfield Beech Axioms M50ti's,VP100, and QS4's. These really are fantastic speakers, but a few things are forcing me to have to sell them. The biggest and most important is due to my wife. She's been having some major medical problems lately, problems that I've chose to keep a lid on untill now. Our insurance just isn't paying enough of the expenses.

I paid $1035, asking $800 + shipping.

These are brand new speakers, the QS4's never got taken out of the plastic, and the the M50's and VP100 only got two weeks of play time before my receiver upped and died. I got all the orginal boxes for them, as well as everything that came with them. Again, these are brand new speakers, only 2 months old, with two weeks of play time. You can view this setup via my website at http://mc2.vicnet.net.au/home/kgunz/web/index.html and scroll down to the "My Photo's' link.

Direct pick up is welcomed, if wanting to cut the cost of shipping. I'm willing to work with you. If need be, I'll even bring them to you regardless of where you live. I've got to sell these to help cover the cost for an upcoming operation my wife has got to have. Please PM or email me at KGunzelman@aol.com if interested.

Thank you, and God Bless.

Sutter;

I am very saddened to hear about your wife. I know how much you love those speakers. Sometimes life has a funny way of reminding is what's truly important.

I don't acknowledge the existence of any particular deity, but my thoughts will be with you and your wife. Please continue to post here and update us on her condition.

SutterCane, I sincerely hope all ends well with your wife's medical problems. My aunt was a terminal cancer patient ten years ago, dropped by her doctor because "he already had too many terminal patients". She's alive and well 10 years later - and living every day full tilt.

My Dad needs a system, but I was looking more at bookshelves for mains. Let me give him a call.

If anybody is interested, I'm willing to sell everything separately. My wife's surgery is drawing closer and I'm extremelly desprate in having to get these fantastic speakers sold.

If bought all together, I'm asking $800 + shipping. Although if need be I'll cover the cost of shipping myself.

If bought in pieces, or separately, I'm asking:

M50ti's = $500
VP100 = $175
QS4's = $300

Everything is priced below b-stock prices, but everything was purchased a-stock. These are brand new speakers guys, I've only had them two months. The M50's and VP100 only got two weeks of play time before my receiver died. The QS4's never even got taken out of the plastic.

If anybody is interested in any or all of these speakers, please, please PM me, or email me at KGunzelman@aol.com

I'm so sorry for having to beg like this.

Sutter, my best of hopes for your wife and you.

There are a number of places like audiogon ect. that have people placing want adds for axioms.

Here's a few from a Canadian site, I"m sure someone here would be interested:
http://www.canuckaudiomart.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/classifieds.cgi?search_and_display_db_button=on&db_id=20308&query=retrieval
http://www.canuckaudiomart.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/classifieds.cgi?search_and_display_db_button=on&db_id=20268&query=retrieval
http://www.canuckaudiomart.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/classifieds.cgi?search_and_display_db_button=on&db_id=18500&query=retrieval

Here's the audiogon site (if you don't have it already) perhaps better if living in the US. Just do a search for Axiom and scroll down to the want ad section.

Audiogon

I truly hope all works out, Michael

UPDATE:

Desperately needing to sell these awsome speakers!

M50ti's - $475
VP100 - $175
QS4's - SOLD (Thank You KCarlile)

My wifes operation is drawing near. I can't express how badly I need to get these great speakers sold to help cover the cost of her medical bills. I'm afraid if they don't sell, I'll have little choice but to file for bankruptcy to free me from this liability.

I can only pray for the best at this point in time. My wife and I have a little 19 month old baby girl, her name is Nicole. I offten sit here late at night and cry thinking about what the outcome may be if I'm unable to cover the cost for my wifes operation.

If I have to lose my credit, so be it. But the thought of losing my wife and our daughter losing her mother, is just more then what this grown man can bare.

So once again I beg for help. Please, if anybody is interested in these speakers, please, and again I'm so sorry for having to beg, but please, PM or email me at KGunzelman@aol.com

Thank you all so very much for your kind words and moral support. I'll never be able to truly express how much it means to me and my family. It's very deeply appreciated.

SutterCane,
my thoughts are with you and your family during this time. Life certainly does have a way of showing us where the real priorities in life are.

I wondered if you might try contacting Axiom on these. If they are in such good shape, maybe they would consider giving you a deal and taking them back due to extraordinary circumstances. That would be unusual, but if you're in that big of a pinch, it might be worth a try.

As you all know by now, my wife is in need of a major operation. The cost of her surgery is un-freaking-real. Our insurance just isn't paying enough of the expenses, which has forced me to sell my Axioms.

So far only the QS4's have sold.

The M50ti's are still available for $475, and the VP100 for $175.
If sold together I'll give them to ya for $600.

You all know why I'm forced to sell these outstanding speakers, but what you don't know is what's wrong. Well, without going into great detail, my wife has a tumor that must be removed. She's scheduled to check into the hospital on July 28, her surgery is scheduled for the 30th.

I didn't want to have to do this, and I can only ask for forgiveness for being forced to do so. However with time drawing shorter, I'm sorry, I'm not very good at asking for help. If anybody wants to help and is willing to do so, I have a paypal account, it's address is suttercane96@hotmail.com or you can PM or email me at KGunzelman@aol.com

Thank you all for all your support, it means the world to me and my family.

PS. MD55, thank you so much for your contribution. Nobody in my family will ever forget your kindness. God bless you my friend.

Sutter... This morning I met with our rep from Blue Cross-Blue Shield, and we talked about your situation. She suggested some public pressure is in order. I will also be posting this on Home Theater SPot... If you could tell us who the insurance company is, from Your e-mail address, I gather your last name is Gunzelman, we can put some pressure on this situation. An insurance company IS a business, and no business wants bad publicity... especially from us vocal audio people...

BB- She was a lot of help... as she pointed out, in today's political climate, especially regarding insurance companies, they fear public scorn over NOT paying for legit health care.

Hi SutterCane;

First of all, we're so sorry to hear about your wife, and our thoughts are with you. Ian and I were approached privately by someone who would like to take the speakers on condition of anonymity, but I wanted to post a little anonymous thank you here. We'll be in touch with you or you can call us.

Suttercane, like everyone else on this great forum, you have my sympathy, best wishes, and my hope for a healthier future for you and your wife. I pray you have and can take advantage of your friends and family to sustain yourselves emotionally.

I am also moved and amazed that Amie and Ian are willing to get involved on this level. Yet one more reason for me to recommend Axiom (as if I needed one!).

The fact that Axiom will take the speakers back doesn't surprise me.

However, that fact that they are doing it proves just how nice they are. I can't think of another company that would even consider doing this.

Hopefully bad press on the insurance company will put tremendous pressure on them - enough to cover your medical bills. I am often in American hospitals and I have seen some sad, sad sights, all for money... Something's wrong when you don't have access to healthcare that will save your life.

Gosh, I hate to drag this up here, but I think your statement about American health care is a little misleading. True, there is no comprehensive federally managed program that provides health care for everyone, but there are laws that require hospitals to admit folks who are seriously injured without regard for their ability to pay.

I did a quick Google on indigent health care costs. Apparently Texas spent $4.7 billion in fiscal year '98 on health care for the indigent. That amount has got to be way higher now. I also found this rather inflammatory, anti-illegal immigrant site that raises some issues here:

http://www.vdare.com/guzzardi/health_care.htm

IMO, it is the working class (who are often uninsured/under-insured and can lose their life savings when tragedy strikes) and the elderly not yet elgible for Medi-Care who suffer most under the current piece-meal system.

Just wanted to point out to the int'l forum members that patients aren't left bleeding to death on the sidewalk in front of the hospital.

Keep us updated if you can, SutterCane.

That's what I had in there originally.

My first job after I graduated from college did not provide me with medical benefits - though I paid something like $50 a month for Medi-Cal so that somebody else could go see the doctor. My take home pay was about $1800 a month - or in other words, roughly twice the amount an alcoholic collecting Social Security disability takes in each month.

If people could pick and choose which taxes they paid and exactly where their money went, do you think this country would even have paved roads or interstates? or sufficient armed forces, for that matter?

You pay, I pay, we all pay for the benefit of others.

They hardly build anything with tax dollars anymore. To build schools, freeways and other infrastructure they float bonds, create special assessment districts, increase the sales tax, levy fees on developers, etc...

The abuse of social programs in America is well known. Why should we be surprised?

Maybe some sort of gov't health care system, perhaps at the state level, can work - maybe not. You hear good and bad about the systems in place in Canada and England, but neither of those countries are as large as the US. I don't know... what I have now is sure getting expensive.

Any Canadians care to comment on the health care system up there?

I was trying.

Seriously though, it would be nice if some of our tax dollars were spent on things that benefited the people who pay taxes. A health care system could be good, if it worked, but would it work here in America? We seem to have a lot more bad guys here than Canada does.

I'm sure someone that is a lot more knowledgeable about the Canuck system of health care will speak up, until then I'll do my best to appraise you of the situation. It's essentially a big disgrace. Hallway medicine is rampant (at least in Manitoba) and waiting lists are atrocius. I personally know of half a dozen people who have had to seek medical help in the US (out of pocket of course) because they couldn't get a simple procedure (such as an MRI) in time to potentially save their life. An older gentleman I know is down @ Mayo right now having a pacemaker and a defibrilator (sp) implanted because it would have taken approx a year and a half to have it done in Canada. Doc says he wouldn't have made it.

At least one political party in Canada wants to block the building of private health care clinics too (must think it's better that these people are forced to flee to the States to have life saving operations performed). And the political party that caused all this were voted in, again, less than a month ago. This all despite the fact that they were caught, red-handed, stealing/wasting billions of tax payer's money (enough that could have paid for all kinds of MRI machines).

Despite all my ranting, it's really not that bad of a system. The basic health care system works quite well. Unfortunately, it is too poorly funded to allow for desperately needed upgrades in the more intensive care areas.

I apologize if I offended anyone with the preceding rant. I was just very frustrated with the outcome of our recent elections (I'm sure you've long since figured with what party my heart lies as well). I'm also not usually one to enter a political debate (despite that I'm normally very political), I just feel more qualified to answer questions from the Canadian point of view.

Once again, sorry if I offended anyone.

As a fellow Canuck I must say that I agree with sidvicious02. I sat and watched a good bud of mine wait for 14 months to get an MRI. That should tell you a lot about the Canadian health care system or lack there of.

It scares the hell out of me at times. I have 2 girls 5 and 6 and if something ever happens where either of them need health care, the thought of taking them to a hospital here..........makes me nervous. That is the god's truth.

14 months just for an MRI? That's very disappointing. Maybe I should re-evaluate my goals of getting hired by a certain Canadian speaker manufacturer....

Suttercane,
Have not seen any recent posts from you as your wife's operation is around the corner. I hope the finances worked out at least to avoid the potential hardship you described. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your wife for a successful outcome. A fight with an insurance company is the last thing one needs when a loved ones health is involved. Recently situations similar to yours have become more commonplace unfortunately with the biggest insurance companies - many times avoiding ethical practices to enhance their financial gain. Based on personal experiences and many others going through similar situations, Aetna has become the biggest violator in this regard. This formerly US company was purchased last year and since has changed all procedures in regard to reimbursment of claims. Their standard procedure is to refuse all claims (even for standard care) assuming many people won't fight them, thereby giving them a financial windfall. I have spoken to numerous freinds, family members, and doctors who all have experienced the same. I didn't see what insurance company you were dealing with but curious as the past 12 months have become a nightmare for many of us. I am very surprised that these situations are allowed to take place - hopefully more consumers will raise the awareness on this issue and hold insurance companies (especially Aetna) responsible for their unethical actions.

I'm very glad she's OK

If anyone wants to watch a good movie and see what Canada's healthcare is like, watch Les Invasions Barbares.

Shoot I'm sorry guys, I've just been under a lot of stress and haven't been making my rounds. Things are slowly starting to get better though.

As Craig mentioned, my wife had her operation this past Friday, the 23rd. Her surgery went ok. There were no problems or any complications. The tumor was removed and the doctor said she's going to make a full recovery and that she'll be fine. It's just going to take a little time is all. She was released from the hospital and was allowed to come home yesterday, Tuesday the 27th.

I consider myself a lucky man on many fronts. One, I was blessed by meeting and later marrying a truely remarkable and stong woman. She's been my rock now for going on 9 years and my world wouldn't be the same without her.

Two, I was futher blessed on November 15 2002, when my wife gave birth to our beautiful baby girl (Nicole Marie). Nothing changes a man like the birth of a child. She along with my wife is what my world revolves around. Home theater is squeezed in there somewhere too. lol

And third, yes, due to the circumstances that led me to having sell my speakers; My uncle has offered to repalce my Axioms for me. The bread was sent this past weekend and should be arriving today or tomorrow.

If I could offer any advice or if there's a lesson I've learned from all of this, it would be this:

Live each day as if it was your last, cause the truth is tomorrow is promised to nobody. Do your best to never forget where you come from, what you have, what you have lost, and everything you went through in the past. For it's all of these things that helped made you what you are today. In additon to all that, take the time, regardless of how busy you are, take the time to let your loved ones know how much you love them. Never take that nor them for granted.

Things are slowly getting better now, so you'll be seeing a lot more of me. Thank you all for your kindness, your support, and your friendship. It means more to me then what I can sit here and express in words. I greatly appreciate and treasure it all, the same way I do all of you.

Thank you, God bless, and I'll talk with you all real soon.

Sutter. Excellent news on all fronts, my friend. Interesting how unimportant audio and the like becomes when something like this happens. I hope your bride's recovery is quick.

SutterCane, thank you for the beautifully written story. I share your outlook on life.

I am reminded of an episode of "Northern Exposure" in which Graham Greene portrayed a native Shaman searching for the "healing stories" of the euro-american culture. Of course, what people offered him were urban legend type things, which were neither helpful nor relevant.

But I have reflected repeatedly on that concept over the years. We do not think of these narrations of our life experiences as "healing stories", nor do we maintain a canon of them through oral or written history in the same way that other cultures might.

Yet, doesn't Sutter's story - OF Healing, OF Love, OF Hope, OF Kindness - have the capacity to "heal" people on an emotional and spiritual level, if not a biological one? Isn't it a good thing for us all to reflect on our blessings, and on our capacity to make the world happier, even if by small daily actions? Doesn't it have the potential to "heal" our relationships and our communities when we do so?

Blessings to your family, SutterCane. Thank you for being here with us.
