Since I recently got wise and got the 22s and the 150 and the QS8s...its like I lived and switched to AXIOM...LOL

I am really digging throwing everything I have at the 22s. I hit the gammet from clasical to country, metal pop, rock, folk, funk, you name it. These sound rich and very full.

I am about 10-14 feet away from them and they are spread aboout 5 feet apart on either side of my TV. On the 24" stands.

ok..they seem to radiate very well and have nice mid and bass even at low levels. The highs are accurate and not hazy.

all of this said, and i skiimed through the post about the different toweers...

the question is if the 22s ar as nice as I want, what ntoteable and noticable advantages do the larger towers tend to provide?

my guess is more low end and larger spread for bigger rooms.

I would imagine..if i saved enough $.01 s i could add a set of the towers. (any of the models)

This assumes that they really can offer MORE than I am swimming in right now..these 22s are that nice. Mind you I am not getting greedy LOL..but if the 22s are this good...I gues the towers must be a notch or two above ???

Dave, I know that the M22s are enough for me. One suggestion is to separate them more; 5' is a bit narrow if you're sitting about 12' away. A common suggestion is to separate the mains as much as your distance from them and to toe them in slightly so that the tweeters point at your ears.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

Hello Virtualexister,

Hope you are well. I agree with JohnK, they would sound better if you had them spaced farther apart. As far as the M22's vs. the towers, they are only comparable to the M60Ti and M80Ti if you like the M22s sound. The M40Ti and M50Ti do not use the 5.25" driver in their design, they use the more laid back 6.5" units without a midrange driver. The M60Ti has one 5.25" midrange driver which is the same driver that the M22Ti uses as its two woofers, and the M80Ti has two of them as a dual midrange. The only advantage I see to going with an M60Ti is that the 80Hz to 200Hz range is reproduced by the larger dual 6.5" drivers, this is assuming you are keeping an 80Hz crossover, but your Vocal range from 200Hz to 3,000Hz is going to come from the single 5.25" midrange instead of coming from the two 5.25" drivers of the M22Ti. I see that loss of a 5.25" driver as a disadvantage. So, as you can see, there is an advantage and a disadvantage depending on what you want, Mid bass boost with the M60Ti, or stronger vocal range with the M22Ti's. The only way to get the same sound of the M22Ti and get the mid bass boost is to go with the dual driver everything M80Ti, which I believe would be too much for your listening area. I think an ideal speaker would be an M22Ti with one 6.5" woofer added to it in a tower configuration, but alas Axiom has not designed such a speaker yet.

A couple other things to ask yourself:

1. Is the M60Ti going to sound $400 better than an M22Ti?

2. Am I going to listen to them without a subwoofer, then the M60Ti will be better, but still benefits from a Sub.

3. If you are married, what will the Wife think of the bigger speaker.

Later,

TonyM

yeah, and I am digging the 22s totally.

i se your points about structure matching.

With thatin mind..it dawned on me...are the 60 and 80 3 way speakers? if so or not does it matter?...i ask since they have the woff, mid and tweet.

BTW i have a JBL PB-10 with the 22-s...but I am only doing that on thater.

for music..i have been petrified by the performance of the 22s.

he hehe i just bought 1984, a mozart, a Handel, a spanish guitar to throw at the speaks. man they hit the bright notes so well...and lows to boot!

Just curious.... have you heard any of the tower models? From all that I've read around here, the M60s are a lot closer to the M22s than you think. (actually, the M50s are too, but there are noticeable differences if you listen to them back to back). And yes, the towers have way, way more bass, although what comes out of the M22s is nice. (and impressive!)

no..thats the real drag...can't audition the Axioms really.

Hell, i can't audtion anything where i live!! Chico or Reno is nearest cities.

Towere are in the future...bu oerhaps not the 80s. we are in (actually a large room) but set up across so it seems small.

hence the 22's work great..but if the 60s can give a bit more range..esp in the bass for 2 channel it might be worth it for me to consider them...when i have $$$ of course duhhh

Hello Virtualexister,

Hope you are well. I would save up some money for a much better subwoofer like an SVS, this would add much more to your music experience in two channel or multi-channel home theater. The bookshelf speakers really need the sub on in stereo mode, give it a try with your sub on.

Later,

TonyM

Oooh. I have one of their CDs but haven't played in in ages, and probably never on my M22s. Maybe I'll throw it in the system now...
