Are the speakers sold through the factory outlet returns, or just speakers that don't meet the 100% visual Q&A inspection, or could they be both?

Thanks
Legairre

They are ones with slight cosmetic defects, usually due to imperfections in the laminate.

Returns are not resold to the public if I remember correctly.

legairre- yes, the b-stock's(factory outlet) have small cosmetic flaws that fail the inspection test.. none of them are returns.

LOTS of people on here have purchased factory outlet, and had no problems with them.. sound wise, they are still the same quality as normal.. and many have said that they wernt even able to find the defects or problems with the finish. so you should have no reservations about getting a great speaker from the outlet.

Except, I never found any cosmetic flaws.

I could never find the "blemishes" on my QS8's or M22's either. The mark on my VP150 was a joke. I'd 100% recommend buying from the outlet.

The defects I found on my speakers tended to be veneer problems---a chip on the corner of the veneer. A couple were under the grill. Nothing you would ever notice from more than a couple feet away---if you're very picky.

The defects on my outlet VP100 were very minor, but were enough to bug the hell out of me even though you couldnt see them with the grill on. I ended up ordering the rest of my setup from the normal store.

Thanks for the help. It sounds like most of the speakers from the outlet have none to minor imperfections and aren't used. Does anyone know if the outlet speakers can be returned if you find the blemishes(if any) unacceptable?

Legairre,
You can return any speakers within 30d per the Axiom policy, but i doubt they will ship you another set of speakers if you thought the blemishes were too much on the first set.
I would not be overly concerned.
To date i've only heard of one truly monstrous blemish. Otherwise 99% of the FO units are pretty amazing. I still can't find any significant flaw on my VP150.

Thanks chesseroo,
I was thinking maybe I'd try my luck at the outlet and if the blemishes are too much I'd return them and just go and order a brand new pair from the regular axiom store not the outlet. Then again they'd have to look pretty bad for me to loose $100 to ship them back.

Instead of using the outlet I'm also considering a custom finish. I wonder if custom finished speakers are returnable if you just don't like the sound of the speakers.
