Anyone heard the remastered The Final Cut that includes "When the Tigers Broke Free"? The audio quality on the remaster is supposed to be amazing.

After learning that there even was a remastered Final Cut, I went out yesterday and bought the ablum. I thought that it was very good. Although, I thought that the first one was recorded very well.

All this talk of The Final Cut made me sit down last night, turn out all of the lights and listen to it straight through. It's probably been about 9 months or so since I last listened to it. It's interesting to me to do that from time to time with certain records that made a huge impression on me when I was younger, mainly to see whether or not they hold up well. Some albums fail miserably. Others succeed not on their merits, but more on my sentimental affinity for the time and place with which I most associate them. I'm pleased to say that The Final Cut is just a remarkable piece of work. Some of the references are a bit dated, and some of the lyrics are a little heavy-handed (particularly for Waters), but overall it's still amazing. Waters is a master of the use of dynamics - the swings from his ragged, condescending croak-whisper to the agonized screams are terrific. All in all, it remains a must-have in my collection.

Right on. I can't say I listened to it in my childhood -- I think I first heard it 4 of 5 years ago when I bought it after my younger sister recommended it -- but it is an amazing album.

Over the weekend my wife took our kids to the mall, so I let the dog out for a bit and put in Dark Side of the Moon. Wow, I heard things on my new Axioms I hadn't heard before...incredible

Another vote here for Final Cut. A buddy turned me on to the album back in high school. I came over and found him sitting on the floor with it cranked. It was amazing. I haven't done an end-to-end session recently, but might just have to fix that.
