Hiya Mark,

I would not have hesitated to buy the EP350, but I was really stuck on a down-firing box sub. I have kids and a dog, so minimizing the amount of grill cloth was important to me. I think the EP350 looks terrific, and represents a really good value, especially if you buy the Factory Outlet. It would have been ~$100 less than my SVS, and certainly looks better. If the aesthetics are important to you, I would certainly not hesitate to purchase an Axiom sub. There is no reason to think that Axiom subs are less capable than comparable models from Hsu or SVS; I think a lot of the impetus to diversify comes from inherent audio geekhood.

I think Tom's absolutely right. I'm in a relatively small room (about 12 x 16) and I have an EP175. It sounds great and I have difficulty imagining how the actual tonality could improve. The only thing in my mind that a HSU, REL, SVS, etc. could offer is improved extension.

Finally, I should have mentioned that the room has hardwood floors. Despite that, I wouldn’t characterize the room as “live” nor “dead”.

I too have hardwood floors. No rug, and very little on the walls. My M60's still don't sound "bright". A recent guest who stopped by to give the Axioms a demo even commented on it. He had said that he'd heard that Axioms were bright. He also disagreed. Hardwood floors won't be a problem.
