Sorry if this is a stupid question, but it is generally recommended to stay with the same brand for amps and pre-amps, from a sound quality perspective? Specifically, I have a NAD C270 amp and I am wondering if I can use a Rotel RC 1070 pre-amp, or if it would be better to stick with a NAD pre-amp. Thanks for your help.

There won't be any problem with doing that. You find yourself a good deal?

I found a Rotel RC1070 for $250. it is one year old. I am not sure I will buy it as it is an internet deal from a private seller (has good feedback), but the price seems right.

Sounds like a great deal to me. I love my Rotel stuff.

I have an older Rotel amp mixed with an old Adcom preamp for my office. They sound very sweet together. The Energy's suck though, I will be getting M22's to replace them. Mixing MFG's doesn't affect the sound or a least it shouldn't. The only reason I can think of to have the same MFG is for aesthetic reasons.
