Just got a new system of Axioms (all very nice) but have a shielding problem with the VP150. It's sitting on top of my 27'' Toshiba (regular TV, 5 years old) and it's effecting the picture.

Is there any material (thin!) I can put underneath to stop it warping the picture? Right now I can put phone books underneath (gives me the distance from the TV I need) but it doesn't look good and my center is getting higher than I would like.

I would suggest you call axiom and have the VP150 replaced, this should not be happening, you definitly have a problem with in that speaker and it should be fixed properly.

I agree, call them pronto, Tonto (haha! that was terrile humour). My VP150 sits right on top of my TV and it is 100% shielded.

Hello Tonto,

Our center channels are very heavily shielded (and they haven't caused any interference in the experiments I did using a 32-inch CRT set). Are you quite certain it's the VP150, and not your left or right front speakers? In the course of doing listening tests to our center-channel models, I accidentally moved an old pair of Mirage bipolar towers (unshielded) a few inches closer to my TV. Then I noticed magnetic interference and thought it was the new Axiom I was testing.

Did you try pushing the VP150 to the rear a little (if there's enough room to do that)? Sometimes just a slight adjustment will be enough.

Nevertheless, we have had one other complaint about a VP150 causing interference and oddly enough, it was also from an owner of a Toshiba CRT set about the same size. Some sets can be unusally sensitive.

If it really is the VP150 that's causing interference, you can get some 20-gauge cold-rolled sheet steel from a sheet metal shop. That will effectively shield the Toshiba from stray interference. Before you do that, call Joe Vassallo, our service manager and ask him if there's any possible problem with the shielding magnet on your VP150.

Regards,

Hi Alan,

I have seen a couple of VP100 that have had this problem, in the magnet had come off in the other there was none. This is why I suggested he call Joe before doing anything else.

Cheers John.

Thanks for the responses.

It's definately the VP150. If I pick it up and move it I can see the effect move and disappear from the screen.
The side speakers are three feet away so that should be safe.

Not sure if it takes time to take effect after a move or just because it's more visable with certain colours but even the phone books I added don't work now and I get a purpleish blotch on light colours (just watching StarWars II. Major base in that one )

So what's the number I should call? The toll free line?
1-866-294-6688

Thanks
Peter.

Yes Pete, you can speak with Joe at that number. Until you get this cleared up you might want to try The VP150 upside-down underneath the Toshiba.
