It's the best first person shooter I've ever played. It is so incredibly involving because the story just draws you in! If you thought the original was good, HL2 is AMAZING. The only problem I had with it is that it was short. It took me about 18 hours to beat on Medium difficulty.

I thought that HL2 thoroughly destroyed Doom3 in almost every category except for the graphics engine. The textures are so much better in HL2 than in Doom3. Combine that with tthe great facial expressions and the large variety in types of levels, and it's easy to see why Half Life 2 is so visually appealing. Doom 3, if given better textures would have better visuals (due to its use of fully dynamic lighting, a first for a video game) but its textures were fairly low resolution and the facial expressions really left much to be desired. So while Doom 3 had the better graphics engine, Half Life 2's graphics are far superior to my eyes.

Additionally, Half Life 2's use of the Havok physics engine was a great bonus. There are a few physics "puzzles" throughout the game that add a nice flavor to the game. This is surely Game of the Year materal in my book!

DJ, Nothing against HL2 -- I mean to play it soon -- but do you need to spam us with game ads?

Heh. Sorry, but it's just so much fun though . Play it and you'll understand what I mean.

Congrads, Nickbuol. Great to hear you finally got them!

I'm sure you'll find it was well worth the wait and are now busy trying to listen to everything under the sun as I have been doing ever since I got mine.

You may want to tell your wife if she hasn't heard from you for a day or two to kindly slip a bit of food and water under the door from time to time. And don't forget about that personal hygiene...

Enjoy

It has been a fun evening. Got everything unpacked, the only thing "wrong" was a missing set of floor spikes and rubber feet for one of the M60's... No problem there, though... I just called Axiom and another set is on it's way tomorrow. I still can't believe that I got these things today since they should have come tomorrow. FedEx did man-handle one of the M60 boxes on the outside, but thankfully Axiom uses a double box system, and it was fine on the inside.

Everything was ordered from the Factory Outlet, and I had a hard time finding any flaws. Most were on rear corners or edges and were so small. I love the cherry color too.

Oh, my wife let me set these up in the living room until the end of tomorrow (Tuesday) night, so I took over with boxes and speakers. Everything is so messy right now, but I want to get the most time with them before I have to move them somewhere else, or pack them up until I get the theater area done in the basement (what better incentive to hussle on that but a new sound setup).

To anyone debating on getting Axioms, do it! These are awesome!

A few more posts, and I am swapping out my 5.1 DTS audio CD and watching a few more movie demos...

WOOHOO!!!

Didn't ya hear... I got them a day early.... Merry Christmas to me!!!

My wife, although she won't admit it, was just as excited as me today... Ok, maybe not AS excited, but close. She even broke out the camera and took pictures of my oldest daughter and I unboxing them. My daughters think that this is pretty cool too. My oldest (10 year old) wanted to "celebrate" the getting of the speakers, so she dug into her "secret" candy stash and we had some Rolo's (one of my favorites) while we set things up.

My 5 year old, who usually plugs her ears when listening to some movies, was just smiling and giggling tonight. I didn't have time to play Nemo or Monster's Inc for her before she went to bed, but I will tomorrow.

Anyway, I need to get back to a few more demos then force myself to go to bed. I can't turn it up very loud anyway with the kids in bed.
