Just spent an hour or so playing with sub placement with some really nice results. I always felt that my sub response was not very flat and that some sort of EQ would be required. Well I have just been experimenting with getting my sub out of the front left corner of my room. I ended up just moving it about 2 feet along the side wall (towards listening position) and it now sounds much 'smoother'. Metallica's 'One' is playing right now and the kick drum is getting me right in the chest with no bad perceived peaks from bass guitar. An hour very well spent. I updated my web site pictures if you want to see the change.

Stuart, I had EXACTLY the same experience. I had the sub tucked pretty well into the front left corner, and just wasn't getting that much out of it. I did the same thing you did. Keeping it the same distance from the side wall, I just slid it farther away from the front wall, and got a noticeable improvement.

I just posted a similar experience on another thread. Moved the sub about 7" from each wall in the corner (just a few inches from where it was) and it made a huge difference.
