Greetings,

Just beginning to program My MX-700. The RI datebase does not list my Sony KDF-42WE655 (I have updated to the software), nor any other WE655 series TVs. The remote is a RM-Y915. Will one of the other KDF listings work? I would hate to choose a code, program the 700 and then not have it work. I am just beginning the programing and am under the impression that you have to choose a code by clicking on it and can not just 'type' a code. Need help

Kind regards,

Roger

Hi Roger. Welcome.

It is pretty likely that one of the other KDF devices uses the same codes. Give it a try. I believe you can leave the remote plugged in to your computer via the serial cable, load that device and "test" it through MX Editor. It's pretty easy to delete a device if it turns out that it doesn't work, but I bet it will be fine.

Hi Roger,

Boy, do I have a file for YOU!!! This puppy was made by Daniel Tonks at Remote Central and has every Sony TV command available, including discrete codes for all seven VID inputs plus ON and OFF. Daniel set it up originally based on the 60XBR800, which is the second generation LCD in the Grand Wega series (I have the 50XBR800). You TV is the 4th generation.

It is a Pronto .ccf file that allows you to drag & drop individual commands to the MX-700 simulator in MX-Editor. Take a look at the programming manual since you will need to use the Universal Browser function of MX-Editor (next-to-last icon on the tool bar). After downloading the file from Remote Central and unzipping it, navigate to the .ccf file by clicking on the small folder icon in the upper left-hand corner of Universal Browser. This file is a treasure trove. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

BTW - what other equipment dare you goig to control with the 700?. The pronto .ccf files will be much better for you than the database - more "stuff" available.

Um, Ray, are you okay? Just so darn excited about that remote that you can't contain yourself, or something more serious?

I actually wish I had more things to control with my MX-700.

Too bad it doesn't work on the kids.....

...or the wife

Tom - my typing skills aren't the best and I often stumble. With no spell check capability and a really small box to type in, my results sometimes look like I'm working inside of an acid flashback; not that I can speak from personal experience.

Ray:
I have the same problem and compose all but my shortest responses (like this) in Word and copy and paste!

Jack had posted a link to this: IESpell quite some time ago. It's a free spell-check program that works with IE. It will give you a button on your standard button bar that will spell check any text boxes on a webpage. Works quite nicely.

This may be the answer for your hallucinogenic mistakes!

Jack was nice enough to send me iespell and I may try it. Since I use Firefox, Mark's suggestion makes some sense as well, so I think I'll try that first.

God, Ray, I am sorry. I really did not mean to unleash the spell check hounds on you or anything. We ALL make typos, and that one just struck me as funny, that's all.

I sincerely apologize if my comment was interpreted as lacking in humor or kindness.

Ah, things are right with the world again. It was very weird when Ray was pissed off because of something Tom said!

I thought for a second you were talking about the two brothers from "Car Talk" on NPR...

Well, Ray, not really much of anything is going on.

It is an ongoing reference to the Tom and Ray of this ongoing classic NPR show.

Finally, the originator of the thread seems to not find value in its digression. Pity.

Boy, I hope he came back and took advantage of that file. It's terrific.
