The salesman sold me an "s" video cable to take the place of one of the component cables, he said the picture would be better. Is this true?

S-Video is better than composite , but component is better than both.
As you can see a component cable is actually three cables in one.

Pat,
Craig, as usual, is absolutely correct. You can get some excellent component cables without breaking the bank at Blue Jeans Cables . They will even cut to a specified length. Go for the Belden 1694 which is a set of 3 individual cables. The 7710 set are the same cables, but all assembled in a sheath, which is not very flexible.

I own Axiom's component cable, it's a flexible little.....wait little, what am I saying, IT'S A BEAST! That cable is seriously garden hose size, and top notch quality as well, I've got a 25 foot one going through my wall, you couldn't ask for a more solid cable.

Wow! I'd love to have Axiom interconnects all over. Unfortuantely, I don't appear to be made of money at the moment. Wait, lemme check again... no, just skin and bones...

Thanks Guy's,
Ray, I just picked up 50' of Axiom speaker cable and a couple locking banana plugs(heavy duty)for my sub. Those are some "r e a l l y" nice looking component interconnects. I am trying every trick in the book,(isolation..spikes..cables..speaker placement..etc. etc.) to improve sound and picture without just dumping $$ on more expensive gear. I've also been looking at Blue Jean Cables and a few others.
With the pictures it really clears things up about what is what...........thanks again.....Happy Holidays

I'm always amazed how freaking stupid some of these salesman are, what store where you at? Sounds like he was just trying to make a sale, and maybe out of stock on component...

Just a run of the mill Best Buy "need a job kid" turned me onto it. I did notice my one hundred dollar dvd player has component but the only thing my 27"Sony Trinitron flatscreen has is lots of jacks on the back with nothing "labeled" component. Of course to complicate things my Denon is in the mix too. Everything works now but I was just looking to do some more "tweaking".

Unless you have a newer tv, the S-Video is as good as you can get.
I'm in the same boat.
I keep telling myself that I'll be getting a new 55+" tv in 2005. We'll see what happens. Of course that means a better dvd player as well.

Well I'm hoping the prices do come down on the Plasmas because they look pretty nice...even if I have to wait 2 or 3 years and that goes for all that new technology. Six thousand for a TV is just unbelieveable!

Ah...that makes more sense.
I've just had a briliant idea for our bedroom this morning, involving an in-wall component rack, and a small wall mounted plasma tv.
Now I"m just waiting for my lucky lotto number to come in...

About 14 years ago I saw in a Bdrm. high up on the wall was a recessed area just big enough to put a 20' tv and at that time it seemed soooo modern and hi-tech. Now those thin plasmas mounted on the wall especially in the living areas just bowl me over.

Agree the original is as you said, but with a user name like "Ash Boomstick" I would still have to weigh in that he's talking about Army of Darkness :
Still one of my all-time favorite movies.

I'm still trying to figure out what Klatt-Veratt-Nectar means.........? And Army of Darkness sounds like a chainsaw chop-chop movie...and I'm 43. Did I miss an episode or two of the original Star Wars?

yeah its coming off of AOD. ned- funny you mention Star Wars though, in Return of the Jedi three of Jabba's henchmen are named Klaatu, Nikto, and Barada (they're actually Raimi's homage to The Day the Earth Stood Still)

If you're 43 and haven't seen AOD yet what are you waiting for ? Imagine Monty Python meets Doom2.
Army of Darkness is a bit hard to pigeonhole, although definitely one of the funniest movies I have seen. It's the third movie in the Evil Dead series, although very different from the first two. More of a shotgun film than a chainsaw film, the chainsaw is just bigger and easier to see in the poster.
"Trapped in time... surrounded by evil... low on gas..."
"Army of Darkness is the third and last part in a series of horror-movies by Sam Raimi, starring Bruce Campbell as the hero Ash, a quite ordinary guy who works as a clerk in a mall called "S-Mart". Ash gets sucked into a tornado and ends up in medieval England, equipped only with a shotgun and a chainsaw. There he must retrieve an unholy book from an ancient graveyard in order to create a passage back to his own time. Unfortunately he fails to pronounce the spell that unlocks the curse over the book, which results in the awakening of an army of undead warriors..."
http://home.swipnet.se/~w-12947/AOD_page.html
If you get a chance to see Army of Darkness I strongly recommend it, although it is more of a "watch with your friends" than "watch with your young kids" kind of film.
The original "Klaatu..." phrase was a command given to the giant robot guardian in The Day the Earth Stood Still, a classic sci-fi film from the 50s.

Yeah, it would be tough to fill either of their shoes.
Bruce has been pretty much pigeonholed as an actor anyways, if I were in his shoes I would have fun being "Ash for life".

Hehe. Yes bridge it is a lego Ash.
I'm hoping that with Sam involved (and hopefully bruce) they can do something that won't make me cry to see. Same goes for the remake of Charlie and the Chocolate factory with Burton and Depp.
Of course every time I get my hopes up like this they are dashed on the rocks of craptasticness (Aliens 3, Blade Trinity).

You're not going to believe this, but I just clicked onto Amazon.ca to look this up and the title appeared as one of my "recommendations". So... the mighty computer at Amazon thinks I'm just going to click on the link and order the book, huh ? What must they think about me ?

Agreed. Wilder's Wonka was played with a fantastic sense of menace. He was a very dark character and not to be trusted at all. Tim Burton is the only one who could pull off a remake (although I understand that this is supposed to be far more faithful to Dahl's book). Still, I've got to say I'm pretty skeptical.
