Hey all,

I just received my h/k 635 receiver and have my M80s connected in stereo mode. I'm running into a problem where the music seems in front of the voice. Like I'm hearing the voice from a distance. What could be causing it? I have all eqs off.

A couple of simple basics to check first. Be sure the binding post on the back of the M80s are tight and the jumpers (metal bars between the 2 sets of posts) are secure.

Be sure the polarity is consistent, with the positive terminal (red) on the receiver connected to the positive terminal (red) on the M80s, and the negative (black) is connected to the negative. Speakers wired out of phase can sound kinda hollow.

checked. everything is tight and polarity is correct. I tried other CDs and the voices sound fine. Darkside of the moon was the one giving me trouble. I will try it again shortly.

In the distance like quieter or are your ears just saying the voice is further away ? I found my M60s could deliver some 3d imaging cues (up/down, closer/further away) that I only heard before on a very few, very expensive systems.

If it's "further away like quieter" I don't know the answer

EDIT - one other question -- are you running just "Stereo / Surround off" or do you have DSP off as well ? I found I get slightly nicer results on my 630 with DSP off as well, although that only works with analog inputs or tuner.

just have it at stereo mode. I'm using optical cord to connect the cd player over to the receiver.

At this point I just think its a few of these CDs that are poorly remastered or just sound like crap on the Axioms. I out some of my reference CDs in that I use to tune my car audio and the Axioms sound excellent. To be honest I removed my MP3 CD from my car and played it on the axioms and even though it is a mp3 disc almost all the songs sound excellent.
